Blake Lively sues Justin Baldoni for sexual harassment, exposes his smear campaign

I mean Blake was weird for those wine drinks and acting like her movie wasn't about DV, so I get why people don't want to forget about that. It still doesn't justify the harsh crucifying and I'm glad Justin is being held accountable

I mean... the documents that have been revealed today indicate that was the studio-backed promotional angle for the movie, which was a decision she was likely involved with, but that wasn't something she just chose to do on her own to promote her drinks :deadbanana4:

The only reason Justin moved away from the official strategy and started promoting the movie the way he did was because he saw how poorly it was being received and wanted to leverage it against Blake :deadbanana4:

This should also be a lesson to everyone about how easy is to manipulate social media (whether it's in politics or entertainment) to make topics and discussions seem like they have "organically" started trending. It's crazy how easily everyone decided to jump on "Blake Lively is the worst person ever!!" within like, 24 or 48 hours after seeing some TikToks.

And I still don't get how everyone jumped on board the "she shouldn't be acting happy or lighthearted or promote her haircare line!!" train :deadbanana2: Since when do we require actors to match the subject matter of every movie they promote? :deadbanana4:  They act in the movie and then go back to their real personalities. Gaga went on the campiest promo tour ever for a movie where her partner is an alcoholic and eventually kills himself, and we all agreed it was iconic.

In light of all the revelations today, it's actually pretty understandable that Blake wanted to talk about everything but the movie and her experience making it...

The gag was that the lighthearted marketing theme of the movie was what the studio was mandating for. The official marketing plan wants to frame it as "a story of hope" and as it's inspired by the author's individual experience and not representative of all DV situations. Blake was just doing her job and following the brief.

Meanwhile, after Justin saw the backlash against that, he decided to pivot away from that agreed marketing plan, in order to make Blake look terrible in comparison. He was using his "male feminism" branding and feminist talks against her.

Why didn't Scooter do this to Taylor after the whole masters scenario? He seems like the type that would.

I'm genuinely surprised someone like him or the Big Machine CEO didn't do this to her.

But he did do that to her thou. Her 2016 backlash was hella forced now that we look back at it. Especially with how the unedited call came out.

By framing Taylor as a "lying white woman who's feuding with a black man while using her whiteness", they did make her become a socially-acceptable target for society to gang up against. And people dare ask why Taylor hates Scooter with all her guts. She totally knew what he did, considering he did that same thing countless time with Selena before.

I fully believe why the masters scenario didn't go that way is because Taylor started to keep receipts for everything after 2016. So they can't frame her as a "terrible, lying white woman" anymore. Her lawyer even came out to denounce Big Machine's messy allegations, her friends in the business were ready to perform her AMA medley for her,... Taylor was always many steps ahead of him to protect herself. He can't even talk to her without going through multiple lawyers first. Now that's smart.

ever since he hired johnny depp's lawyers I knew he was guilty

Well this is extremely stupid, every lawyer has defended someone guilty at some point. Depp won the big defamation case so that just means the lawyers are good.

Anyway I was kinda skeptical about this but tbh I believe it; kinda insane that it appears like the entire wave of backlash Blake received was astroturfed. :rip:

Can't help but wonder if that Norwegian interviewer woman got paid to reissue that clip with Blake and Parker Posey about the "little bump"; Blake's comment definitely still seems rude but I always found it odd that absolutely nobody got on Parker's case for her part in completely steamrolling the interviewer and pretending like she wasn't even there :rip:

edit, just saw this in the NYT piece :rip:: On Aug. 10, Kjersti Flaa, a Norwegian entertainment reporter, uploaded to YouTube a 2016 interview in which Ms. Lively snapped back when Ms. Flaa commented on her baby "bump" and remained testy for the rest of the conversation. Ms. Flaa titled it "The Blake Lively interview that made me want to quit my job," and told The Daily Mail that "it's time that people behaving badly in Hollywood, or anywhere else for that matter, gets called out for it."

It wasn't the first time she had posted a video aligned with a client of Ms. Nathan. In 2022, in the midst of Mr. Depp's legal battle with Ms. Heard, Ms. Flaa posted clips of her interviews with the actor, tagged #JusticeForJohnnyDepp.

Right, like Blake's publicist Leslie Sloane who runs Vision PR was one of Weinstein's former publicists. The agency itself was founded with his financial backing. The fact she likely ran similar campaigns on some of those women Weinstein branded "difficult" over the years is probably what gave her the experience to help Blake navigate a way out of this one :rip: Hollywood is a circle.

Speaking of which, Melissa Nathan aka Johnny Depp's PR lady has one of her connections published a hit piece on why Ryan and Blake were so involved on the making of the film:

Quote

"[Justin] Baldoni and Blake [Lively] hate each other," according to Sneider's sources, adding that Lively has a massive ego and Hollywood can sometimes tend to reward that.

Apparently Baldoni's version scored higher with audiences, but Lively allegedly took action to make sure her cut 'won'.

The sources claimed that Lively enlisted her husband, Ryan Reynold, for help, and that he 'basically took over the movie and buddied up to author Colleen Hoover to see that their cut won'.

"It's wild that the cast would shun Justin and not do press with him. It makes no sense because he's the only one acting professional," added a second source.

:rip:

Not to mention Melissa's sister was allegedly the one who published the Ryan scabbing hitpiece. Meanwhile, all Ryan did was trying to protect his wife on this toxic set, especially when both Jamey Heath and Justin "repeatedly entered her makeup trailer uninvited while she was undressed, including when she was breastfeeding". The level of insidious is truly next level.

First you pile on Blake. Then you pile on Justin. Where's the nuance?

If what's written in the court documents is true, then he's an extremely disturbing individual, to say the least.

I'm glad it's all coming to light—nobody deserves to experience SA or be treated horribly, no matter how annoying a person might be.

She already debunked that speculation

Of course Kjersti Flaa would do so. Why would she admit herself that she helps directly on a hate campaign takedown? :khalyan2:

Spoiler

Also, the fact that she uses this opportunity to direct more people to her youtube channel is lowkey gross af. She did use that Blake interview to launch her Youtube channel, and then tried to replicate that success with an Anne Hathaway one. She maybe not directly work for Baldoni, but she definitely and directly benefits on the takedown of another female celeb and then tries it with another.

Baldoni's team was specifically seeking out organic bad press of Blake, and then use their "digital side" to boost those posts up even more. r/Fauxmoi, Tiktok,... the receipts are all there: :rip:

not to say i always thought he was a creep but i always thought he was a creep - his creepiness in interviews was only interpreted as earnestness because he was being compared to blake, who was conducting one of the most tone deaf press tours in living memory.

i do think it bears pointing out tho that we do have a tendency to assume that, in situations like this where two people are fighting, that one of them is a good person who was wronged and that the other person is a bad person who did wrong. in reality they can both be pieces of sht who wronged each other and everyone around them. mostly i'm just annoyed that this whole trainwreck is gonna be all over the news for the foreseeable future :grump:

edit to be clear: not saying they're equally bad, just that we don't have to recast blake as an angel in order to recognise that baldoni was/is a terrible person.

Yeah, they are doubling down.

Instead of, you know, admitting that they could be wrong, capable of learning new information and change their minds. But nope, doubling down it is.

why did nothing come out about this guy when he worked for 7 ******* years as a male lead character and producer on "Jane The Virgin"

if he had such problematic behavior on set after workin for just a few months on this movie ... math is not mathin.

especially since the cast of Jane the Virgin is still very tight to this day and gave him all kinds of lovely words and supports online and showed up at the movie premieres.

surely something would've leaked out back then, even a tiny rumour but not a single peep. nada

You realize saying this is equivalent to saying a rapist is not guilty just cuz he hasn't r*ped any other women right?

It's clear that Justin tried to show his authority over everyone involved in this movie and back when Jane The Virgin was on air he wasn't a big name in the industry so he didn't show any of his predatory tendencies
