Terrorist attack in Germany, 2 dead, 60+ injured

RIP to the victims 💔

I used to be as progressive as they come but there's obviously a problem with people from certain communities that need to be seriously addressed. Turning a blind eye to it because of political idealism is just disingenuous at this point.

Apparently two people are dead. One of them is an infant.

But to say religion is the motivation IS basically saying that anyone who follows that religion has some sort of motivation to do the same, which is absolutely a horrific thing to say.

Religion is a Disease because of how it's exploited and how it's used to brainwash people. Faith doesnt equal religion, thats why there are different terms for it. Religion is just BAD for every party involved - doesnt matter if its christianity or Islam or whatsnot.

The only religion that seems to be peaceful is Buddhism..maybe we should all convert to that

Berlin, 8 years and one day ago. There was a memorial event for this just yesterday.

Yeah, it was in Berlin back in 2016. My friend lived around the corner where it happened and I was taking a shortcut through that market an hour before a truck raced though it. It felt like a delayed Final Destination sequence :biblio:

That's right. I thought I was having a weird episode of deja vu. I don't understand how these attacks happen - I live in a city where they host Christmas markets every year and they're incredibly busy but all of the streets are made completely inaccessible with bollards etc. Regardless, it's really awful.

I feel like this happens at least every year someone in Europe.. you'd think they'd be so traffic restricted by now.

Into what? Highlighting the usual demographics that are responsible? Mm'k.

RIP to the victims, this is actually terrifying.

Literally do not understand how anyone in Europe feels safe, y'all have these kinds of occurrences like twice a year at this point. I know Euros love to dog on Americans for school shootings but it's much easier to wrap one's mind around the idea of a troubled student looking to enact revenge on their classmates over going to a Christmas market with your family and randomly witnessing 70 people get plowed by a car.

Americans could stop that or at least get the number of times it happens down if they wanted, it's just pure greed and stupidity.

I've seen lots of videos of people being harassed for doing Christmas festivities in Germany. It was only a matter of time until those causing the terror took it too far. Christmas is about peace and joy sucks some people take offense to that

I'm so ******* SICK of this, so many people died including kids! Absolutely barbaric and it's rooted in religion, I'm sick of people pretend otherwise

So terrible, RIP to everyone. I'm shocked there weren't bollards?

Apparently there were but the attacker crossed a tram lane to get into an area that wasn't protected. A flaw in design perhaps.

It's actually not! Just a very pedestrian observation!

What an awful situation. I'm sad for the victims, for the innocent people who will be discriminated against because of one person's decision to kill, and sad for the Germans who will see this as a reason to give the far-right more power.

I wish I lived in a society that had advanced beyond the need for religion.

Such a weird take. Most school shootings do not target only people thee perpretors know, not to mention most are actually done by adults.

They also protect all the free Iran, free Kurdistan, free Palestine and free the nipple marches, cause they have to. It's part of their job.

No, they beat, surveil, threaten, intimidate, fine, and jail them.

Listen, I am still very calm and collected, but if you truly want to use a thread where innocent ppl have been killed by an attacker with still unknown motivations to call Germany a fascist police state, then you'll can have a word with the moderation team soon.

And now be gone.
