Kayseri Mantisi Posted Friday at 09:22 AM Posted Friday at 09:22 AM always ahead of the curve Quote Android 16 will introduce a new Night Mode Indicator API to help apps automatically optimize photo capture in low-light environments. Instagram and other social apps will use this to trigger Night Mode, thereby improving image quality and informing users when they are clicking images in low-light conditions. Select devices, such as the Pixel 6 and above, Galaxy S24 Ultra, and others, already support the feature and display a moon icon to help users activate Night Mode. This Camera Extensions API allows Android apps to access device-specific camera features "implemented by the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in order to maximize the quality of each feature on the hardware it's running on." This includes: Bokeh: sharpens the foreground subject and blurs the background. Usually used to take portrait photos of people with a soft, out-of-focus background. Face Retouch: touches up skin texture, under-eye tone, and more. High Dynamic Range: widens exposure range, resulting in more vivid photos. In HDR mode, the camera takes several photos with various exposure values and merges them into one. Night: brightens photos in low-light situations. The camera takes several photos at various exposure values and merge them into one. This process can take several seconds, and the user should hold the phone still while the camera captures photos. https://9to5google.com/2024/12/17/instagram-night-mode-android/ https://www.androidauthority.com/android-16-night-mode-indicator-api-3509856/ 1 2

May Posted Friday at 10:19 AM Posted Friday at 10:19 AM 10 years ago i really wanted night mode to be like this, and of this quality now that it's there im like… it sucks . what's the point of taking photos at night just for ur phone to make it look like daytime? photos lose alllllllll their vibe and atmosphere . So uncool 1 1

So uncool thank you for sharing your opinions, but this take is unrelated to this thread. both Apple and flagship Android's take that "daytime like" night mode pics, there's no difference in that (but Android does them better). if you don't like them you can lower the exposure after taking the pic or lower the seconds during long exposure while shooting.

I also use the S23 Ultra so I get you sis, taste!! i haven't upgraded to S24 Ultra because there were no enough changes for me to upgrade from last year's phone, and i like the rounded display more so S24 Ultra's flat screen wasn't for me. the corners of S25 Ultra will be a bit rounded unlike previous models which had sharp corners. I am yet to decide if I should upgrade or not, will decide when it's out probably. But depending on the things you do with your phone, you'll be perfectly fine without upgrading imo. If the camera stays the same I probably wouldn't upgrade.

So uncool I totally agree with this. If you like photography in any way the automatic corrections are horrible. And it's not just on night mode. That being said you can always turn it off.
