Brian Jordan Alvarez (English Teacher, Caleb Gallo) accused of rape by former costar

Alvarez is currently starring in FX's English Teacher which he created and is writing with frequent collaborator, Stephanie Koenig. If you're a millennial gay, you may have come across the web series The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo on YouTube which he created and also starred in.

One of the stars of the web series, Jon Ebeling, who played the character of Billy (straight guy that BJA's character is attracted to and gives oral to) has filed a police report accusing BJA of rape during production of that series. Ebeling alleges that instead of simulating oral for the scene, BJA actually gave him a BJ.

It was also revealed that the storyline between BJA, Koenig, and Ebeling mirrored real-life events: Ebeling and Koenig were dating but BJA had unrequited feelings toward Ebeling. The infamous scene where BJA gave oral to Ebeling did happen in real life and also was nonconsensual at the time; it was then later adapted for the show.

I'm going to add excerpts from the Vulture article that really demonstrate how toxic and creepy BJA has always been as well as getting insight from the victim.

BJA having no boundaries

Quote

...Ebeling and Koenig started dating. The first time they made out, they were on the couch next to Alvarez, who was making out with someone else. "Brian reached over and started touching my thigh," Ebeling says. "I didn't feel like I could do anything about it because they're best friends, and I didn't want to make it weird." (Alvarez denies this.)

BJA pressuring Ebeling for sex

Quote

It began with Alvarez asking Ebeling if he was using him. "He got stone-cold quiet like he was really troubled," Ebeling says. Then Alvarez began asking, " Are you manipulating me to get to Steph? Are you manipulating me to be on the show?' And so it became this game of like, 'No, no, not at all.'" Once Ebeling had convinced him he wasn't up to anything, Alvarez suggested they hook up. He wanted to compare penises. He wanted to smell his balls. He asked Ebeling what the last porn he watched was and pulled it up on the TV to get him hard. He said that Koenig would want them to experiment together and that she would be into it. After saying "no" multiple times, Ebeling says, he allowed Alvarez to perform oral sex on him until he went flaccid and then pretended to fall asleep. (Alvarez says Ebeling "enthusiastically gave consent" and "encouraged it throughout.") "I thought this is what I needed to do to keep the peace, to keep seeing Steph, to stay on the show," says Ebeling.

Ebeling telling Koenig about the rape and her dismissing and gaslighting him

Quote

He texted Koenig immediately. "We were shooting and Brian took a huge goddamn liberty," he writes. "I'm so ******* upset. I feel like I was raped. Literally I was raped." She writes, "How were you not able to stop this I'm so confused," and tells him to call her. He stepped outside to do so. "Her response is like, 'Why didn't you push his head down? You're a man,'" he recalls her saying on the phone. He told her to go **** herself

Actual text convo between Ebeling and Koenig featuring more gaslighting and victim blaming

Quote

Ebeling:  God, my heart been pounding out of my chest since 6

This sucks

It's starting to throb

I'd take a Xanax but was drinking all night

Don't want to mix

Koenig: Cause you're making it huge. Make it small. Rationalize it instead of internally letting your emotions interpret it.

You're choosing to hate someone which is a hard emotion to feel. Instead of rationalizing it, seeing it from his shoes and changing your tactics with him. That simple.

Ebeling: He was so wrong honey.

If he doesn't know now.

He'll do it again to someone else.

Koenig: You weren't physically hurt. Yes it was confusing. And he was wrong and he knows it now.

Ebeling: He's a deviant.

Koenig:  He's not like a rapist jon.

BJA's creepy behavior during college

Quote

At USC, classmates say Alvarez fixated on unattainable people. They recall Alvarez growing jealous when a close female friend got a boyfriend. One night during a drinking game in which everyone had to tell a secret, he said jokingly that he wanted to gouge the boyfriend's eyes out with his thumbs. (Alvarez does not recall this.) Soon Alvarez began to follow him around, showing up to parties uninvited and banging on the window of his house to be let inside in the middle of the night. During their senior showcase, he heckled him and tried to throw him off his game. Eventually, the boyfriend filed a no-contact order against Alvarez with campus security.

BJA guilt tripping Ebeling into not ruining his career

Quote

Alvarez felt that Ebeling was vindictively holding the incident over his head. He began to talk about how far he'd come in his career and how many big things were around the corner. That's when Ebeling remembers Alvarez falling to the floor and crying. At first, Ebeling thought he was doing a comedic bit. "Brian was begging me not to end his career," says Ebeling. "It was like him turning himself into the victim. I just stood there."

Basically f**k Brian Jordan Alvarez and Stephanie Koenig!!!

I'm gagged.

But wait... he got sucked off before in real life, without consent... and then decided to portray that with his rapist for a comedy show?

If you've ever being around gays who are obsessed with "converting" straight guys, a few of the things he did will sound familiar :clown:

am i getting this right? He orally raped him and THEN re-created the oral rape for a scene in a web TV show, except the acting was real and was actually a 2nd oral rape?

just trying to wrap my head around this but like … physically how ? I get it was a low budget web series but was there not a camera man ? any other crew watching ? like at all ?

Yes, that's right.

The filming of the oral scene was done under a comforter and BJA doesn't deny touching his dick but contends it was all consensual. And yes, I think because it was such an indie project and BJA had full creative control, everyone just trusted his direction

It's kind of crazy how almost all of these big name comedy sketch YouTubers have been unmasked over the years as predators/rapists/racists etc, it's concerning how much influence they had over lots of young minds online.

Oh no :( scared to read this, I love(d) BJA and English Teacher

This is horrible. Cancel this show immediately :mazen:

Jon Ebeling is so cute. Poor guy. I'm so proud he was brave enough to come forward. I wonder if more will follow.

This is a wild ass story, one I have to take with a grain of salt. If all of this is to be believed, then Brian is a seriously messed up man. I cannot stand gay men who go after straight men. That being said, after reading the entire article, I also get the impression there is some truth to there being mixed messages passed around in their friendship. But even if we believe that Brian did not sexually assault Jon before shooting the scene (i.e., that their sexual encounter was indeed fully consensual), it's clear that he still majorly crossed a line while shooting for the show. Dubious "assumed" consent is not enough, and I hope Jon is able to find closure in telling his side of the story.

This reminds me very much of a former friend group that I was in. Ended in a similar way, and let's just say that I'd happily take a cheese grater to the face of the "Brian" in my past.

I guess we are not getting S2 of English Teacher huh :rip:

So the victim seems to have some texts from that time, that's good for him at least!

lol The fact that the guy went to the police the day before the series premiered tells everything. Just jealous he is not in the show.

I knew about the shady behavior of Brian — though I didn't know the extent of it. wow.

I'm almost more disappointed to hear Stephanie's involvement/response. That's the first time I'm hearing of it.

English Teacher is a great show but this isn't a good look. Yikes. Sex Education Teacher might be much more needed.

Read the whole article and it's not looking good for BJA. Steph refusing to comment speaks volumes.
