Hello/Bonjour, and welcome to Hollywood's Best of 2024 countdown. I haven't done a year-round countdown since 2015 (which you can find here). Where have I been the last 9 years? Nowhere really. Anyways just like back in 2015 I'll countdown the following categories:

The last three won't be specific to releases in 2024, but just in general. In 2024, I added over 300 new artists to my library and I'll rank my top 5 new ones or the ones that made a lasting impression on me.

'Honourable Mention' serves Dua accurately. I think Radical Optimism had the potential to be a tremendous album if the rest of the tracks were just as good as the first three releases. It's a shame the energy and passion died out obviously mid way through the recording process.

I haven't listened to Evanescence in sooo long but Lost in Paradise was standout from that album, along with A New Way to Bleed.

It's pretty much an album full of those singles he released with a few additional songs. He is even still releasing new singles with one coming out as recently as like 2 weeks ago.

Houdini ended up being the best song on Radical Optimism by far but it's not from this year so it makes sense that it missed the list  but what a BOP

When I did my last countdown I decided to include my favourite new artists I added to my library within the past year. It doesn't necessarily mean they released new music in 2024. This year I explored like 300 new artists and will highlight 3-4 that I really enjoyed. They are presented in no particular order. Anyways, here is the first:

Has 2 full studio albums released in 2018 and 2022 with many singles both on his own and in collaboration with others. His music is R&B/Pop. I discovered his music via Apple Music's recommendations based on my listening history with Jay Park. He is also one of my top 5 most played artists of 2024 according to Spotify wrapped, as well as in the top 5 in Apple Music Replay (I switched services mid-year). I'll save the actual rank for another countdown.

COLDIN

Coldin is a young Korean pop artist whose popular songs were showcased in various Korean dramas including Semantic Error, Love Tractor (both of which are BLs), Duty After School and Born as the Demon Lord's Daughter. I'd maybe describe his music as cool, laid-back pop. According to both Spotify & Apple Music he was one of my top 5 most streamed artists of 2024, with one of his songs peaking in the top 5 as well. 

 

He only had one new release in 2024: ANGEL PARADISE (From the Soundtrack for Born as the Demon Lord's Daughter)
