MusicLoverDude Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 (edited) Hello everyone. MLD here. This year I celebrated my dirty 30 on this earth and I would say for the most part I held onto my own this year. Some good movies, some good memories with people here and there, and a lot of good music this year. Also, a bit messy on here but I'm working on improving that this upcoming year. So: Top 100 Songs of 2024 Worst Songs of 2024 Top Throwback Songs of 2024 Best Of 2020-24 (if I have time) And more if I can Hopefully the server holds up Edited December 26, 2024 by MusicLoverDude 1

MusicLoverDude Posted December 24, 2024 Author Posted December 24, 2024 BEST OF 2024 100 - 91 Now that I have a little more time between shifts, I can finally get started on my lists. No fancy graphics this year. I will link a playlist once I finish posting my updates. Let's get started. 100. Tate McRae - 2 hands Tate's image change isn't completely convincing just yet. Greedy and Exes weren't good songs and ever since her career started she's tried emulating other artists. She's still channeling Britney and Nelly Furtado here but with a bit less charisma so her retainer voice can still be annoying. But this is still better than before. Chorus is the best part. 99. Tyla - Truth Or Dare I gave Tyla's album a try and while it was a fine listen, most of the songs sounded the same so I pretty much kept Truth Or Dare and the Marshmello remix of Water and went about my day. 98. Addison Rae - Aquamarine Addison Rae is a very limited vocalist so songs like Diet Pepsi DO NOT work for me because she tries too hard to sound sexy with a minimal production. Aquamarine thankfully has better production that helps with her limited vocals. Hopefully she album is enjoyable when it comes out. 97. Tate McRae - it's ok, i'm ok Yes, we're getting Tate out of the way very quick. Basically the same as 2 Hands, I just enjoy this song more. 96. Lady Gaga - Disease Basically a darker version of The Cure. I like it but I can understand why it's underperforming. 95. Charli XCX - 360 I consider BRAT to be a pretty overrated album with only a few decent tracks. Charli will have a few entries still, but yeah. Anyways, this song is fine. She has better songs coming up. 94. Tinashe - Nasty I slept on this one quite a bit so that's why it's low, but I enjoyed Quantum Play and she has one more entry coming up on this list. 93. Lainey Wilson - Wildflowers And Wild Horses Nothing wrong with female country, right? Lainey managed to sneak in as I listened to this a bit during the early months of the year. 92. Jax Jones f. Cascada - Never Be Lonely As a longtime Cascada fan, this remix was a pleasant surprise. 91. Kygo & Ava Max - Whatever I didn't mind this, but I forgot about it after May. Still a harmless bop though.
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Truth Or Dare, Aquamarine, Disease, 360 and Nasty are huge bops Tate having these "white main pop girls who do choreography" persona feels like what her team wants her to do and not actually what she truly wants. Like, she definitely tuned out from 2000s pop culture (where her whole image comes from), and her choreographer said that she was never seen Beyoncé's Crazy In Love MV was crazy Can't wait for her talking about not liking her music during 2023-2025 in the next 5 years or so ddd 1

MusicLoverDude Posted December 26, 2024 Author Posted December 26, 2024 MLD's Best of 2024 90 - 81 90. P!nk - All Out of Fight I'll go ahead and tag @EnterTheAttic here because I know he'd be happy P!nk even made it on here. P!nk's music post 2012 has basically been hit and miss for me and while I really enjoyed the title track from Trustfall, I didn't really care for most of the overall album. This deluxe track should have been on the standard edition as it has more heart and better production than most of the standard edition. Would have easily been top 2 with the title track. 89. Justin Timberlake - Selfish Not gonna lie, this lead single reminded me more of Bieber than JT himself. But I liked it enough during the winter and spring months. The album was whatever, but unlike Katy at least his lead single was fine. Not to the same level as SexyBack or Like I Like You, but certainly better than Can't Stop the Feeling. 88. Lauv - Potential I liked I Like Me Better and his collab with DJ Snake back in 2018 so I've casually enjoyed songs by Lauv here and there since. I always had a feeling he was queer so for him to come out last year and then go on to make a song about wanting another guy was honestly just really YESSSS YESSSSS in my heart. The song is pretty simple and cute so it was enough to make my cut 87. Gracie Abrams - I Love You, I'm Sorry I knew who Gracie was before she blewup, and I didn't like her cursive singing last year or the year before. But her songs this year definitely got more straight forward and pop-like so I've been enjoying everything for the most part. This song is simple and pleasant to my ears and I can have it on in the background and be ok. This will probably be played at Vons before I know it. 86. Taylor Swift - thanK you aIMee Expect a bunch of Taylor on this list. Yes, I really enjoyed The Tortured Poets Department and I think it's a better album than BRAT. Bite me. That being said, the diss track ranks lowest among her entries. I liked it a lot at first, and this is basically Taylor saying she's won and moved on. But once you listen to it a few times, you can also move on pretty quick. 85. Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department I'm not sure if I think Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist, but this song is cute. 84. Ariana Grande - true story I also really enjoyed Eternal Sunshine this year so expect a bit of Ariana too. true story is a decent song that simply got overshadowed by other songs on the album. 83. Taylor Swift - The Black Dog This song is definitely quirky in its arrangement and its song lyrics. But that makes it standout enough to make the list. 82. Taylor Swift - So Long, London Honestly, I feel like the production let the lyrics down here. It needed something like what Exile had so that we could FEEL her pain more for a track 5. It's grown on me a bit but it's no The Archer, my tears ricochet, You're On your Own Kid or tolerate it. 81. Hozier - Too Sweet I've warmed up to Hozier a bit over the years so Too Sweet was nice to listen to this year. It wasn't too sweet afterall.
