Renzo_ Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 The Maine featuring MisterWives leave in five The Maine (Deluxe) Top 20 starts with a band that I saw live at the When We Were Young festival this year. The Maine played Can't Stop, Won't Stop on its entirety plus some more songs. They have matured musically, and this song is one of the best from their last album. Mandy's part gives a lot to the song. Soft Launch Cartwheels Cartwheels (Single) Cartwheels is the debut single from Soft Launch. This song is an addictive, high-energy track. I can't wait to hear more material from them. Let's hope that Fueled By Ramen will give them the necessary support. Lovejoy Normal People Things Normal People Things (Single) Lovejoy was my favorite band of 2023. Even though this song is not as good as Call Me What You Like, it managed to remain relevant during the first half of this year. However, their new song was such a letdown. Friday Pilots Club Vampire Disco Nowhere I'd recently discovered this band and I loved their sound. The rhythm of this entire track is so enticing and the vibe of the whole song is infectious. I'm surprised they're not better known. Linkin Park Heavy Is The Crown From Zero I won't deny that at first I had some doubts about Linkin Park's return, but in a few days I was convinced that Emily was the right person for this new era. I think it's unfair to judge Emily's work based on Chester's standards. He's irreplaceable, but Mike and the others wanted to continue and that's respectable. She has a lot to give to the band and this song is the proof. The Killers Bright Lights Bright Lights (Single) Another year and another top 20 single for this iconic band. After a 20-year career, The Killers proved that they still got what it takes to do cinematic anthems. The vibe of this song reminds me a lot of my trip to Las Vegas. Kings Of Leon Mustang Can We Please Have Fun? Like their previous eras, the first single from Can We Please Have Fun was my favorite from the entire album by far. I love to see that KOL are trying to get back to their roots. Mustang has the unrefined vibe of any track from Youth And Young Manhood. Sabrina Carpenter Espresso Short N' Sweet The first approach I had with Sabrina Carpenter was during The Eras Tour last year. She's got talent, but I wasn't expecting that she'd become one of the most successful popstars of this year. Espresso is extremely catchy, and surprisingly it didn't get old. I'm still enjoying it. Stand Atlantic x Sueco Nose Bleed WAS HERE I've been following Stand Atlantic for some years. They're one of my favorite "new" bands on the scene. This year, I saw them live as an opening act for A Day To Remember's concert. Bonnie is a insanely good performer. Nose Bleed was a grower and eventually became one of my favorite songs from them, along with deathwish and Hate Me (Sometimes). Twenty One Pilots Backslide Clancy What I liked the most about the Clancy era is that it reminds me a lot of previous TOP eras, especially Blurryface and Trench. Blackslide is a good example of it. Its minimalist beat and the raw and emotional vocals bring me back to the band's roots. In the year that TOP released 14 music videos, Backslide stood out from the rest and became an instant classic. Any predictions for the Top 10?
Mr. Loco Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 espresso Bright lights is the best they've released in a long while 1
JGibson Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Normal People Things + Espresso + Mustang + Heavy Is The Crown + Bright Lights 1
Mezik Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Yes slay that Espresso, she's working late because she's slaying all the best of charts. Heavy is the Crown is my favourite among the new songs, happy to see it on here. Backslide and Bright Lights making the list are well deserved too. 1

Alldeezy Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 heavy is the crown + expresso + Nose Bleed the soft Launch guy is cute 1
MP2K Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 MisterWives did something this year and I didn't know. A shame 1
Renzo_ Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 Porches Rag Shirt Porches has been on the scene for many years, but Rag is the first song that I really liked by him. This song has a vibe of some 90s indie rock bands like Pavement and Archers Of Loaf. My favorite part of it is the blown-out instrumental on the chorus. Foster The People Lost In Space Paradise State Of Mind Foster The People remain to give us at least one masterpiece from each of their previous eras, such as Coming Of Age, Doing It For The Money and Style. Lost In Space is a mesmerizing track that captures the band's signature ability to blend introspection with atmospheric soundscapes. little image Strange Friends Strange Friends (Single) I think this band has the potential to become the next mainstream alternative band. I got to know them with Out Of My Mind (#88 in my Best of 2023) and with Strange Friends they finally got me. We will probably see more of them on the following years. Taylor Swift featuring Post Malone Fortnight THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT Honestly, I never expected this collaboration, but surprisingly it worked and was one of the best tracks on TTPD. Taylor's ability to craft a story shines here. The song feels like a diary entry set to music, and honestly, who else but Taylor could make the word Fortnight sound so poetic? The melody builds, and the lyrics cut deep. The production is good, even though I expected something more revolutionary. Orla Gartland featuring Declan McKenna Late To The Party Everybody Needs A Hero When two indie icons like Orla and Declan join forces, magic is bound to happen. Late To The Party is an infectious bop, it was my absolute jam for months. The guitar part is sublime, it sounds very post-punk from the 2000s, like Franz Ferdinand. Lawrence 23 Family Business Lawrence is a pop-soul duo with a lot of potential. Gracie's powerhouse vocals are one of the band's most defining features. Clyde complements her perfectly with his smooth, conversational delivery. They made an "acoustic-ish" version of some of their songs, and they're incredibly fun. 23 is a very cute and cheesy song at the same time, where both show that they have plenty of talent and charisma. Linkin Park The Emptiness Machine From Zero As a longtime fan of Linkin Park, I found this new era to be both a nostalgic throwback and a refreshing evolution of their iconic sound. When they announced the first dates of the From Zero World Tour, I decided to see them somewhere and somehow. I attended their first show in São Paulo, and it has a special place in my heart. Their energy is incredible, it brings me back memories of the first time I saw them live in 2017. I'm so glad they're back. The yonguer generations can enjoy their music. Quarters Of Change Tightrope Portraits This song is my indie anthem of 2024. I've been obsessed since it came out. Quarters Of Change have a similar style to 90s alternative rock bands like Beck. Tightrope is a track with a powerful instrumental and catchy lyrics. I hope to hear more from them in the following years. Twenty One Pilots Overcompensate Clancy With 9 entries on my list, this is the last entry from TOP this year. Overcompensate has everything that I could expect from a TOP song: deeply introspective lyrics and genre-defying sounds. What I liked the most about the Clancy era is the mix between the duo's earlier dark vibe, especially in Trench, and the polished experimentation of their more recent work. I'm attending the Clancy World Tour next year in Santiago, and I can't wait to see them again after 6 years. Olivia Rodrigo obsessed GUTS (spilled) Three years ago, when Olivia Rodrigo premiered the SOUR Prom, everything I wanted was to attend one of her concerts someday. That day finally came this year when I attended the GUTS World Tour at Madison Square Garden. I can't describe how much joy I felt that day. Her stage presence was everything. I felt so proud to see her evolution from her very first live performances. There were many memorable moments, like the emotive performance of vampire and everyone doing the screaming part of all-american b*tch. In obsessed, Olivia shows her ability to capture messy emotions and wrap them in melodies that feel anthemic. This track was released some weeks before the concert, so it will always remind me of that magical night. That's the main reason why obsessed is my favorite song of 2024. As a fun fact, this is the second time Olivia has reached the top spot in my Best Of, just like deja vu in 2021. Thanks for your comments. Wishing you a bright and prosperous New Year filled with endless joy!

I have no idea what style Olivia will have in OR3, but I'm so excited to find out. It will probably be key to defining the direction of her career in the future.
