I think Lifetimes could've been THE BOP if the last chorus exploded into something bigger... but as with most of 143, it feels like the songs don't build up to anything.

I'd say it gets my honorable mention, but I've kind of soured on it, especially cuz the lyrics are just too cringe for me at times

- The way we all fake stanned her EP, just for her to come out swinging with this pop masterpiece  The layerings in the chorus are pop bliss.

 

9. Porter Robinson - "Cheerleader"

- Porter is so consistent. And this fuse of 2000s pop/rock with EDM is everything.

 

8. FLO - "On & On"

- The way they created an R&B classic with this. I'm obsessed with the bridge, and their bridges always eat

 

7. Chappell Roan - "Good Luck Babe"

- She has become so insufferable but this song was IT this spring. Too bad the rest of her newer songs she played live suck. We need pop bops like this.

 

6. Sophie Ellis-Brextor - "Murder on the Dancefloor"

- I heard this for the first time in January and instantly became obsessed. A timeless and classic pop song. I'm still not sick of it

- instantly my favorite song on her album. It really is a revamped "Fantasize". It deserved to smash over WCBF, but the MV sucked.

 

4. Sabrina Carpenter - "Espresso"

- Song of the summer of 2024. Not much else to say. Although I wish the rest of her album was as poppy as this

 

3. SZA - "Saturn (Live)"

- SZA can do no wrong. This song is Good Days 2.0 for me. So ethereal and timeless. However, she absolutely botched the studio version's chorus. The Mastercard version is 100x better and the only version I use

 

2. Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars - "Die With a Smile"

- Who knew the LG7 lead would scalp me like this  We have to give Bruno all his flowers cuz this is so obvious a Bruno sounding classic (with Gaga as a feature nn).

 

SOTY RIHVEAL

 

1. Billie Eilish - "Birds of a Feather"

- I knew this was a classic on first listen. The way it is just hook after hook after hook. And then when the final chorus comes on and she intertwines the Pre + Chorus + Post in one  Easily my most played track of the year
