Dua Lipa – Houdini

Thoughts: It was released in 2023, but the first half of 2024 was around this song to me. "Houdini" is Dua Lipa's best song ever. A psychedelic pop masterpiece which was a more serious banger than her previous "Future Nostalgia" tracks; she's not that cute girl anymore. She's slowly becoming a serious artist – or what we thought because "Radical Optimism" was full of clichés.

Madison Beer – Make You Mine

Thoughts: Give a Grammy to her immediately! "15 Minutes" was a very okay track, but "Make You Mine" is the highlight of the era. I've been following her since her debut, but I didn't enjoy her latest releases... I fell in asleep while listening to "Silence Between Songs". But she's back and better than ever. I can't think of anyone to perform"Make You Mine" because it fits her voice perfectly. She's a real pop star.

Slayyyter – No Comma

Thoughts: I love everything she does. I love every album she dropped. I can't believe she can still release songs that reach new peaks. "No Comma" is an explicit nasty club masterpiece which is totally against today's trends. Her bravery is crazy, just look at this cover. This is the way Charli xcx should be on, but she rather chose mainstream. Slayyyter is the Queen of Hyper Pop.

Thoughts: In 2016, All Saints were my #1 with "Make U Love Me". 8 years later, Shaznay Lewis is back to her throne with "Awake (Motu)". I get goosebumps everytime I listen to it. I can hear God. The woman behind the best pop song ever written "Pure Shores" did it again.

Ugh, 'Houdini' was a great song. Really got the hype for the era started.. (even if I was left disappointed with the album).

 

'Make You Mine' is so seductive, and warm, and just makes me want to listen to it on MDMA..  

 

I just took a listen to Slayyyter.. how have I not listened to her much before?  This song is filthy, in the best way. Holy.. I need to add it instantly to all my playlists.
