Now why would they do this when the title card lists the first as Wicked Part One

first part is not called "part 1" — it's called just Wicked. "part 1" only flashes on the screen briefly during the title card. the official titles will be:

 

Wicked (2024)

Wicked: For Good (2025)

The name is cute. For Good is the best part of the second act so may as well capitalise on the best part. Also, I'd argue It's the most memorable part of the second act.

I don't want spoilers because I don't actually know how the plot goes from here, but is Part 2 going to be as good as Part 1 plot wise?

Given that the film isn't doing as well overseas, I think it's safe not to include a part 2 somewhere. Dune had 3 years to build momentum with VOD, streaming and all that. Wicked 2 only has 11 months to do that and convince viewers to catch up if they haven't seen the first one.

Yes, some things are questionable but in a subjective way. The music isn't as strong as part 1 imo which is probably why they are adding two originals.

 

but there will be some surprises to the plot especially the end so even though we know the story it could go many ways

The second half of the musical has basically all of my favourite songs – "Thank Goodness", "No Good Deed" and "As Long as You're Mine" specifically. I'm so damn excited for it.

Wicked For Good implies different things based on how you read it: you're wicked forever or you're wicked in the name of being good. Both very excellent interpretations of the second act. I had to cheer
