Hello to our Canadians sistrens up north!Β  I am just enjoying the last few weeks before the shitshow begins again, y'all! Can't believe y'all are about to enter your Conservative era next year, by the looks of it.... it's a good thing for y'all?Β :deadbanana:Β I think CPC is getting a majority government, I would be surprised if they get a minority government. It's funny how people are saying they are moving to Canada here in the States when they are about to get a Conservative government tooΒ :deadbanana:

Β

Screaming at the Green Party being excluded and having two members in parliament. Miss Annamie resigned and we never heard from her again.Β :rip:

CPC is way more moderate than the actual Republican party. For sure Poilievre is the most populist leader in CPC history, but his policies are far from being as drastic as Trump's ones, so any comparison is futile. The CPC is more of a right wing economic party, on some topics they are kinda on the centre-right spectrum. The probability they win a landslide majority is high but the gap between the Liberals and the PCP will get probably tighter with the election campaign. Any country has its own conservatism movement, some extreme, some moderate and I think Canada's one is more on the moderate scale, Canadians would not allow somebody too extreme taking the power

Very curious to see what will happens when they will be back to the Parliament in late January with the non-confidence motion that the PCP will file

The CPC will be a majority government, and I expect nothing less than catastrophe.Β

Β

- Ending 0% interest on student loans.

- Ending the Child Care Tax Benefit.

- Reducing funding for healthcare, education, social services.

- 0 funding for green energy projects, focusing on gas. :rip:Β

- More 'religious right' freedoms (aka make it legal to discriminate against LGBTQ+, no abortions, etc.)

- Propose a private model of health care. :ace:Β

- End rent control nation wide (he's very pro landlord, and property vultures)

Β

It won't be good. :skull:

Mexico ending with the most progressive government in North America is kinda hilariousΒ :bibliahh:

Β

Let's see how much Canada enjoys Conservative social policies and unchecked neoliberal dominationΒ

With current projections and if the election was today, the Bloc QuΓ©bΓ©bois would be the official opposition

As a Quebecois I can only be very happy about that

So is this Trump bad or George W Bush bad? Because if it's George W I might still be okay fleeing trumps Gilead for Canada but if it's two trumps I hope Mexico or the UK will take us:deadbanana2:

It's somewhere between Bush and Trump. Bush was very on the economic side which Poilievre seem to stand the most. But on some topics he gets closer to Trump but he never gets as drastic as him. While Trump positions on immigration are hard, for exemple, Poilievre's ones are more nuanced. He never attacks the immigrant itself like Trump does all the time, but instead he's talking about the uncontrolled immigration movement. Some people close to the party and considered "religious" try to make some policies on the program but the vast majority of the PCP future deputies are very moderate, especially the ones on the East side of the country (Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic) which will form the majority of the deputation

Good to know because I'm honestly and seriously concerned some of us may have to flee because of Trump.Β

The Bloc QuΓ©bΓ©cois having 11% of the votes is way too high, that would means they would get 74% of all voters in Quebec which is demographically impossible but this poll shows a tendency that the Liberals are very in trouble and Poilievre will get a landslide victory if nothing changeΒ
