rhaenyra Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Aren't they all English actors anyway? At least they somewhat resemble who they're portraying and there is no forced inclusivity so it's a win win 3 1 1 14
Johnny Jacobs Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 (edited) The men recycling are there no men left to cast? But yet another biopic about them is not what we need. Edited December 13, 2024 by Johnny Jacobs
JoeAg Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 ummm… not Harris Dickinson as John Lennon meanwhile there are tons of people in the world who ACTUALLY already have John Lennon's nose lol 1
Dolce Vita Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 the way i knew instantly before entering this thread that this one particular actor was going to be involved 1

For instance, no one expected a Black actor to be cast as a member of The Beatles. Inclusivity in movies serves as a corrective measure to address historical exclusion, not as an attempt to "force" something unnatural. What may feel forced to one person might be seen as necessary or long overdue to another. 15 2

Y'all really just love to show your ass on here and bring "inclusivity" or "wokeness" in out of nowhere. - I can see why the other 2 were cast but Harris Dickinson and Joseph Quinn look nothing like John Lennon and George Harrison, They could've given those roles to lesser known actors as the movie's success will have nothing to do with any of them anyway. 4 2

Wicked Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 I just hope the movie is good. I'm not British but I do have some mutuals from Liverpool who would've preferred locals be cast, interesting discussion. 1

Khal Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Fanfic casting. If Pedro Pascal was British, they'd have probably managed to sneak him in somewhere. 1

smartalek22 Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 What would you suggest as an "inspiring" and "non basic" cast?

If there were any films where they could try to launch unknown actors, it's these ones. Beatles biopics will sell like hotcakes and working class England could do with some cultural investment. With the decline of soap operas, acting has become even more of an elitist/nepotist medium. Same thing in Australia. 2 1
LastKiss Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 If the movie is gonna start since the beginning of their careers they are alredy too OLD to play them Get YOUNG people to play YOUNG people Weren't the Beatles like 18 when they started?
glitch Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Did we really need a Beatles biopic? Kinda tired of this relentless stream of biopics in recent years. 1
Thin White Duke Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 (edited) They don't cast "just 5 man", it's that you just know these 5 man - there are some amazing actors in some amazing movies out there - maybe just expand your horizons a lil bit If yall want to play the contrarian so badly and hate on the new popular boys for the week- at least commit to it and go support some indie filmmakers and actors. Anyway, these biopics don't seem to work and I doubt this one will either. Edited December 13, 2024 by Thin White Duke
Gossip_Boy Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 People always complain about marvel and whatnot but the biopic epidemic is even worse. Always mediocre and lifeless but guaranteed to get awards traction most of the time because they're cheap bait. Nothing against the actors (Rami Malek, Austin Butler, Timothée Chalamet, (soon to be) Jeremy Allen White just to name a few are all talented actors) but my god make it stop. 1

That's… literally my point. Hollywood keeps casting the same handful of actors in most high-profile projects, leaving many other talented and lesser-known performers without opportunities. 2
