Little Dark Age Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 Weekly Hot 75 Singles · Top 30 Albums · Top 50 Artists · Recurrent Songs Algorithm/Rules Singles Normally based on library plays, bonus equivalent plays for tracks with new videos and song streams are worth half value. The top track receives 50 base points and a weekly bonus of [0.01 x week #] for longevity. i.e.: If Uptown Funk is No. 1 and is in its 8th week of charting, it receives 50.08 points. The next week if it repeats at No. 1, it would receive 50.09. This continues all the way down the list to No. 75. This weekly bonus helps break ties in year-end and mid-year evaluations. Songs can debut on the chart up to three years after their first release* and can chart on and off for a total of five years following their debut (though this rarely happens). Songs do not have to be singles to enter, but most are. Remixes are combined with the highest scoring version credited. Part 2’s do not apply to this rule, and there could be additional exceptions. Albums [CURRENTLY SUSPENDED] Purely library and saved Apple Music plays as tracked by Last.Fm. No streams are counted. Ranks all albums including compilations, greatest hits and extended plays (5 or more tracks). No recurrent system. Same point system as the singles chart (base points + [0.01 x week #]), but scaled back to 30. Recurrent Songs [CURRENTLY SUSPENDED] Tracks all songs no longer eligible for inclusion in the weekly Hot 75. Songs can debut five years from the week they entered on the main chart. Recurrent songs can chart indefinitely. Same point system as the singles chart (base points + [0.01 x week #]), but scaled back to 20. Artists [CURRENTLY SUSPENDED] Top 50 artists by weekly plays. Only the top 10 are presented and there are no recurrent rules.

Little Dark Age Posted February 5, 2017 Author Posted February 5, 2017 (edited) cdschart's Hot 75: February 2 This is last week's chart and I'll post a new Hot 75 tomorrow but anyway Chart Notes Spoiler Ed Sheeran continues his No. 1 run with "Shape of You", which rebounds in chart after losing traction last week. The track, despite only being in its fourth week, has already made chart history; it set the record for biggest jump to No. 1 when it moved 28-1 three weeks ago. The previous record holder was Adele's "Hello" (22-1). The Weeknd's "I Feel It Coming" is even at its peak of No. 2, despite showing signs of hitting the top slot early in the week. If the track, Abel's 10th top 10, doesn't reach No. 1 it would be his first top 5 entry to miss the summit. He's already notched five No. 1s, including four from Beauty Behind the Madness alone. The 1975 continues to hold with former No. 1 "Somebody Else" (3-3). Currently in its 36th chart week, the track set the record for longest climb to No. 1 after it took 30 weeks to summit. Despite no longer being No. 1, "Else" is holding fairly sturdy racking up a 12th week in the top 10 overall. Shakira's "Chantaje" and Alessia Cara's "Scars to Your Beautiful" remain unchanged in position (holding at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively). The former --- the first ever foreign language No. 1 -- clocks a 12th week in the top 5 and continues to show staying power. The latter continues to be the top 10's most steady entry; it has remained nearly even in points for five weeks in a row. Tove Lo's "True Disaster" marks the first song with any real action this week, pushing 10-6 to a new peak. As noted in the graphic below, this marks Tove's best rank in over a year and half. She was last higher with "Talking Body" in July 2015. Clean Bandit's "Rockabye" is even at No. 7 for a second week, while Adele's "Water Under the Bridge" is up 13-8 to a new peak. In a shock finish that grants Adele her first top 10 week since April 2016 (with "Hello"), "Water Under the Bridge" leapfrogged over the likes of Rihanna, LP and MØ all of whom were leading Adele's disco-influenced track. Consequently, LP's "Lost On You" is up 18-9 which is also a new peak. Rounding out the top 10, MØ's "Drum" slides 6-10 after a short lived rebound last week. Dismissed by the general public and radio alike, "Drum" became a surprise hit on my chart and has spent 15 weeks in the top 10. Little Dark Age Posted February 8, 2017 Author Posted February 8, 2017 (edited) cdschart's Hot 75: February 9 Didn't have time for the full graphics so this will have to do. Next issue out Sat-Sun. Chart Notes Spoiler There’s a new chart topper this week as The Weeknd pushes 2-1 with “I Feel It Coming”; it’s his sixth No. 1 to date. Consequently, Abel becomes the first male artist (and second overall) to accumulate at least a half a dozen No. 1s. The only other artist to do so is Rihanna, who has collected 10 since the chart’s 2012 launch. “I Feel It Coming” follows prior efforts “The Hills” (11 weeks), “Can’t Feel My Face” (3 weeks), “In the Night” (4 weeks), “Acquainted” (1 week) and “Starboy” (3 weeks). Shakira and Maluma’s former five week No. 1 hit “Chantaje” defies expectations by rebounding 4-2. It notches a 13th straight week in the top 5 and doesn’t show any signs of slowing. Consequently, Ed Sheeran’s departing No. 1 “Shape of You” is off two slots (1-3). Despite a record setting jump to No. 1 and a solid first few weeks on the chart, this week’s slide is further evidence that this track probably won’t have great longevity. The 1975’s former record-breaking No. 1 “Somebody Else” is off just one slot (3-4), continuing its slow downhill slide. Meanwhile, Alessia Cara’s “Scars to Your Beautiful” holds at No. 5 for a fourth week in a row and counts a 10th week in the top 10. Although it might be too late for a re-peak, expect the SNL performance to held keep this steady once again next week. Adele’s “Water Under the Bridge” continues to push on (8-6), again hitting a brand new peak. Not far behind is LP’s breakthrough single “Lost On You”, which is up one slot to a new peak of No. 8. Tove Lo’s “True Disaster” dips one slot (6-7) and Clean Bandit’s former No. 4 peaking single “Rockabye” is down two rungs (7-9) as a result. Closing out the top 10, Rihanna’s “Love On the Brain” pushes one spot to a new peak of No. 10 (trading places with MØ’s “Drum”; 10-11). The track is Rihanna’s record-extending 20th top 10 entry and the fourth from her ANTI album. The real question is if it’ll be able to hold up against Rihanna’s past standards: all of her top 10 hits have peaked in the top 5, while every ANTI single has managed at least two weeks in the top 2. Up Next Week: Look out for the 'Super Bowl effect' on tracks from Lady Gaga, Sia, etc. Katy might also get a nice debut... Gabrielle's will have more longevity here for sure but they're both good. I was surprised by Cave Me In a great collab tbh. Little Dark Age Posted February 13, 2017 Author Posted February 13, 2017 (edited) cdschart's Hot 75: February 16 Chart Notes Spoiler After the dust cleared at the end of the week, The Weeknd yet again landed at the top with "I Feel It Coming". Fending off intense competition from Lady Gaga and Adele, Abel notches a second week at No. 1 with the track. He consequently pushes his cumulative weeks at No. 1 to 24, breaking a second place tie with Lady Gaga (23) in the process. With six number ones, his average run at the top with each has increased to four weeks. Adele's unlikely hit "Water Under the Bridge" continues to surprise, pushing 6-2 to a new peak. In fact, 'Bridge' is the British singer's second highest peaking hit to date. She has previously reached the top 3 twice before with "Hello" (No. 1; six weeks) and "Rumour Has It" (No. 3). Although to be fair, "Someone Like You" and "Set Fire to the Rain" would have also reached that region had the chart started before 2012. Following her energetic Super Bowl halftime performance, Lady Gaga soars into the top 5 of the Hot 75 with “Million Reasons” (25-3). The country leaning ballad, which previously debuted and peaked at No. 7 back in October, immediately becomes the singer’s eighth top 5 single. Given that the song has already been in the top 10, however, Lady Gaga's count of top 10s remains at 10. Meanwhile, follow up track "John Wayne" re-enters at a new peak of No. 65 after extended promotion. Shakira's "Chantaje" reverses course once again, going down 2-4 after making the opposite move last week. Alessia Cara's "Scars to Your Beautiful" is steady at No. 5 for a fifth week in part due to a stellar SNL performance; it previously peaked at No. 3 for three weeks. These two tracks are the only ones to spend the entire year to date within the top 5. Ed Sheeran's former three week No. 1 single "Shape of You" continues to rapidly decline, tumbling 3-6. Perhaps his recent SNL stint and Grammys performance will keep in the top 10 yet again come next week. The 1975's record breaking former No. 1 "Somebody Else" is also off three slots (4-7). Will forthcoming track "By Your Side" repeat its success? Only time will tell. Bruno Mars' "Versace On the Floor" bounds 12-8, reaching a new peak nearly four months into its chart run. It's the second top 10 single from Mars' 24K Magic album and sixth overall. With fellow promo track "Chunky" up 29-26 and the album's official second single "That's What I Like" up five spots to a new peak of No. 40, Bruno continues to dominate the chart. Don't expect this to end anytime soon; "Calling All My Lovelies" looks to be the fifth track from the album to enter the main chart, as it opens at No. 6 on the Bubbling Under section. Katy Perry's "Chained to the Rhythm" blasts in at No. 9 with just a single day of plays. It instantly becomes Perry's biggest single day opener passing Rise (No. 16), her second biggest top 10 debut behind "Walking On Air" (No. 2), and her 9th top 10 overall. Good news for "Rhythm"; all but one of those top 10s peaked in the top 3 with two of those (Wide Awake and Unconditionally) rising all the way to No. 1. Meanwhile Skip Marley immediately scores his first top 10 single and entry overall. Coincidentally, Skip's "Lions" ranked at No. 1 on last week's Bubbling Under prior to the announcement of his involvement with "Rhythm"; this week it joins as the main chart's second biggest debut (No. 56). Rounding out the top 10, Little Mix's "Touch" is up five spots to No. 10. It's the British girl group's third top 10 after "DNA" (No. 7 in 2012) and "Black Magic" (No. 10 in 2015). In addition to the three new entries mentioned above, Nao scores her fourth entry with "We Don't Give A" at No. 69, Lupe Fiasco notches his first ever entry with "It's Not Design" at No. 67 and Chance the Rapper's "Same Drugs" finally makes its chart debut at No. 75 (previously No. 1 for three weeks on Bubbling).
