sugarysunflower Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Paula ma'am what are you and Virgin doing? FYG has gotta be Diamond at this point!! 3
allforyou Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Finally Also where is Head Over Heels gold certification? 3
theweekend Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 rush rush being platinum when it was the fourth biggest hit of 1991 crazy 3
LegaMyth Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 My stomach dropped. I thought Mom was getting a DIAMOND cert for her album. 2
JoAddams Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Since 80's And why debut album still not diamond? 1
UseYourIllusion2002 Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Paula getting certified before Madonna But FYG should definitely be Diamond. I think the album was still in the top 10 when it was certified 7x platinum, and I know it had an extremely long shelf life. 3
Maleficent Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 I still remember meeting her decades ago when she was selling candles from a stall next to the highway. She's come so far. 1
stars Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Why don't they want to update FYG like what's the hold up?? 1 1
blown away Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Paula is in dire need of a viral hit. These plaques give a very misleading indication of how big she was in 1988-1991 and the music is also way too good to go unnoticed. 5
LegaMyth Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Rush Rush needs the Running Up That Hill treatment. 1
dabunique Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 like RR is one of da biggest songs of all time and its only platinum smh also when is FYG hitting diamond 2 hours ago, blown away said: Paula is in dire need of a viral hit. bigham Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 If you go to Spotify and look at Paula's streaming, it's quite poor. Forever Your Girl was certified Gold in May 1989. Opposites Attract was certified Gold in March 1990. Both were not eligible for updates? https://www.riaa.com/gold-platinum/?tab_active=default-award&ar=paula+abdul&ti=&lab=&genre=&format=&date_option=release&from=&to=&award=&type=&category=&adv=SEARCH#search_section
UseYourIllusion2002 Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 It sucks how a lot of people don't see massive hits from back then as massive, just because their RIAA certification isn't huge. In the late 80s/90s, a #1 single was lucky to even be certified gold. Platinum was seen as massive for a single. And if a song has poor streams (which is normal, considering some of these songs are 30+ years old), they're seen as flops. Some of these barely gold songs are just as big as many multi platinum hits today.
