Shocking Allegations Against JYP Entertainment

In a 77-page court document, KG Crown, a member of the American girl group VCHA, has accused JYP Entertainment of child labor exploitation, wage theft, and abuse. The document also talks about self-harm, suicide attempt by one of the members, eating disorders, being denied water and food, hidden cameras in their living facility, and being overworked.

Key Allegations:

  1. Excessive Control & Unpaid Labor: KG Crown, just 15 years old at the time of signing, was bound to a contract that reportedly promised minimum wage and training but instead subjected her to unpaid 12+ hour days, living in expensive housing that left her saddled with $500,000 in debt.

  2. Injuries and Denial of Care: Allegations include a torn tendon sustained during an extreme rehearsal, with staff denying water breaks and ignoring medical advice for rest.

  3. Extreme Dieting & Mental Strain: KG claims the company enforced extreme diets, allowed staff to verbally berate her, and failed to address the mental health crises of group members—one of whom attempted suicide.

  4. Hidden Surveillance & Privacy Violations: Hidden cameras allegedly monitored the group without consent, adding to an environment of constant pressure and control.

  5. Legal Wrangling Over Contracts: The lawsuit seeks to void a contract described as exploitative and unconscionable, packed with restrictive clauses barring KG from pursuing independent opportunities or speaking about her experiences.

Kind of horrifying to hear what some of these idols go through but I'm also really happy to see so many speaking out against the abuse, rather than just accepting it as the norm. We're even seeing idols protesting the government / demanding impeachment. Times really are changing and no amount of name calling these girls endure online will change that. :clap3:

"Child labor exploitation" for sure. This group seemed sus from debut, to me. A 14 (13?) year old shouldn't have to endure the workload of an idol

As someone who has been following kpop since 2010, these accusations aren't shocking

Attempted suicide, self harm uff those are some serious allegations. I haven't paid much attention to those new global groups or whatever but I do know this one in particular has a member that is literal child so that's very concerning.

She was the only member on hiatus since DEC and still on hiatus i would say yes, sadly i noticed she gained weight since the debut and she  looked different in the second dance music video for ready for the world single.and in the reaction music video she wasn't happy at all watching herself  and you could tell,  i knew that was gonna affect her but NEVER like this.  that was back in dec 3nd 2023... in Feb 2024 was the S attempt....March 16 Kaylee was not present in Las Vegas Twice tour as opening act but the rest of the girls were there performing...JUL 2024 lollapaloozaa was cancelled for them...the were set to perform in August.......Last month JYP said VCHA comeback 2025......now Dec 8 KG expose them not only this but she said there is another member hurting themselve...this is heartbreaking.

the only shocking thing about this is how it took so long. The way they are not even secretive about these child exploitation practices but nobody has said a thing :biblio:

This is really sad. I especially feel for whoever attempted suicide having it made public via another member's court documents/insta story. Hopefully they got consent from that member to use their story before putting it on blast like this.

Yes, not defending but it sounds like the norm. I'm more surprised that nobody has done anything about these working conditions since the 90s and 2000s when idols would openly talk about being hit and not being allowed to eat.

girl this literally only works for the men in their company and Blackpink, and the vacation leave isn't exactly voluntary

I hope things change and I'm very proud of her for sharing her experience.

For the time being, people should think twice before signing up to be in a Kpop group. You know what's coming.

This also clearly shows that even the big companies won't spare you the trainee debt

2ne1 says hi.

Also YG's CEO sabotaged an underaged girls career because he was interested in her and later married her.

A reckoning in K-pop as an industry is long overdue. So much needs to change at the top.

i think with the new era potentially coming for South Korea, brings a new way to train Kpop idols. its gotten so out of hand and they need to be treated like Western artists are; free to live whatever life they want outside of work.
