Bad_vocal_technique Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Ocean boulevard is one of the best albums of the decade, it was released post NFR, and most music publications agree. 3 1

Her self-infantilization is so bizarre, especially recently As somebody who obsessively followed Lana's career through the Honeymoon and LFL eras, Norman ******* Rockwell revitalized wider interest in Lana's music among people with taste (which LFL was certainly not doing), and also revitalized passion within the fanbase for the caliber of music we should expect it's offensive that Loser for Life was nominated for a grammy the deep cuts sounded like they all came from different albums 2
beautiful player Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 That's weird cause most of her post-Rick work has been garbage.

Jack gets a lot of flack for his omnipresence and I think it's unfair sometimes because he really is a great producer...and there must be a reason that so many prolific female songwriters love working with him. Jack has indeed produced some great songs. The problem is that a LOT of his material sounds similar and it's gotten to the point where it's simply too much. He either needs to do drastically different sounds/styles or he needs to cut down on the volume of material he's working on. Also, Lana's career was on an upward incline prior to working with Jack so I'm not quite sure where this is coming from?

But to be honest the public perception of her 'shifted' way earlier, I'd say with Ultraviolence. She was loved by Honeymoon/LFL by a huge audience. NFR is when the major acclaim came in, but it wasn't a complete 180 nor a major shift, it gradually built up to that point It was definitely after 2014, because 2014 was filled with "she's bad for women and glorifies abuse" mainstream takes. Also the response to the "I wish I was dead" interview. Telling that the public and media response to a woman expressing her mental health issues was "she's a fraud who is peddling depression for an image." 1
Lagerfeld Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 All he did was make her more palatable for the masses, much like Swift.
Frozen99 Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 did y'all commenting actually watch the video? she literally says he's one of the reasons that the perception of her changed and that he brought the songs out of her. and it's true he gets lots of undeserved backlash, on the other hand, he does overstay. love her speech, very poignant, she should've dig deeper, especially with comparing the current music climate to 14 years ago. the ending, she got him good.
for lovers Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 For me her music became much better when she improved her songwriting. The songwriting on NFR is top tier and made her projects after that so much more listenable than her music before. How much Antonoff had to do with that I have no idea but for me that was the biggest difference when comparing post-NFR music to previous projects.
