Lana Del Rey: Jack Antonoff is a major reason public perception of me shifted.

Her career before and after NFR is crazy, it's true.

She finally got the respect and recognition she deserved after NFR so i guess she's right :clap3:

I'm sorry but I don't understand what she's trying to say? Besides the moment in 2012 with the SNL performance/industry plant allegations and in 2020 with the "Question for the Culture" Instagram post, I don't recall Lana getting any type of negative feedback? She's always been loved.

Btw… this is my first time hearing her talk in quite some time and I don't remember her voice sounding like this :rip: Was she nervous on stage?

He was cute for 1 or 2 of her albums but enough is ENOUGH. :ace:

Why lie? Public perception was already turning on her (in a good way) post HM, and LFL was Grammy nominated. Her self-infantilization is so bizarre, especially recently :biblio:

Not Jack influencing her to marry an alligator tour guide :deadbanana4:

All of these twitter pop stans thinking they and their faves are above Jack Antonoff need to sit down. He did a great job with several pop girls between 2017 and 2022. If you want disposable pop music go listen to Dr Luke.

It's right, and he deserves more respect. Melodrama, MASSEDUCTION, NFR, and folklore are IMO their respective artists' best work. He may overstay his welcome with some of our beloved pop girls, but that's an indicator that they trust and respect him, which means a lot in an industry where predatory men are rampant. He gets too much smoke

This.

I mean she needs to give herself more credit, but naur it's true it's true....her partnership with Jack really helped usher in such an amazing new chapter of her career where she's finally started to get the respect she's always deserved.

Jack gets a lot of flack for his omnipresence and I think it's unfair sometimes because he really is a great producer...and there must be a reason that so many prolific female songwriters love working with him.

I think she's always been a bit hyper defensive of negative feedback/reviews, no matter how harmless they are

I agree a lot with the bold part. We know her story with Jack but it was her  the one who shaped those records and gave them a whole chapter withtin her discog.

Of course!  I think her meeting Jack was important though because it brought that out of her.  She said how Love Song was the first song they did together, and he played her the chords and she just started writing on top of them.  She doesn't rely on him by any means because she has great work without him and it's her perspective/vision/lyrics at the end of the day, but they are a great team.

She looks straight out of 2012

Correct, and the girls clearly feel comfortable with him. He allows them to open up!

He is insanely talented but also he should not be producing entire pop girl eras. He's nice for a couple songs and that's it. Sabrina understands

That part! I used to love Lana so much from 2012-2017 but her music in recent years and several other things have really put me off her.

Please be serious :rip:

2012 was more than just SNL backlash. She was a huge punching bag in the most misogynistic of ways from 2012-2014 and people tend to forget that now due to how the GP and critics softened.

It's really about her and not Jack. Lana has been able to get a lot of great material because she had a strong sense of direction and ear. Look at how Taylor swift has some of the worst pop production through jack antonoff. She has poor taste. Lorde album diluted, st vincent album diluted. These were records that could've had far more bite but Jack is not an exciting producer. Making piano tracks with lana seems to be his only strength. His own solo work is literally panned DOWNNN

It always did seem kind of desperate to me the way he cornered her at that party when they first met and practically begged her to go to a recording studio there and then. He really did see her as a cash cow from the start.

I think her final statement about being surprised about the elevator in his New York apartment and her hint she dislikes his ostentatious displays of wealth there, is indicative of a potential undercurrent of future disharmony between them.

She's always been thin-skinned, insecure and defensive about any sort of criticism though. To her it's always an unfair backlash even when she's in the wrong. She can't stand not being constantly ass-kissed.

Was just about to say. But to be honest the public perception of her 'shifted' way earlier, I'd say with Ultraviolence. She was loved by Honeymoon/LFL by a huge audience. NFR is when the major acclaim came in, but it wasn't a complete 180 nor a major shift, it gradually built up to that point

I havent listened to a full Lana album since NFR. I know people still love her but she kinda lost my interest.
