Of course it's because of religious motifs. Religion is truly the root of all evil and should be abolished altogether.

The irony of reigious people continuing to say LGBT+ lifestyles are "ungodly" when every religion has been caught covering up same-sex abuse is not lost on me :matty:

Religion is so GAY! :suburban:

Society is regressing on lgbt rights and it seems to only continue. I was shocked reading these comments on twitter about this.

This should be concerning.

I wouldn't say there's a full on regression, i'd argue its more so that homophobia and transphobia are more noticeable now because it's become more normalized to be open in regards to your beliefs in social media now; which is a problem in itself of course but it also allows us to see the full spectrum of things and it's a way for us to learn how to counter attack and how to approach but of course I could be wrong and it may just be wishful thinking

Manchester United: WE TRIED!!1

... it's not like wearing LGBT jackets improved people's views on the  matter :rip: To force sports teams to signal support for any group seems ridiculous. Just play the game! I don't understand the level of delusion and narcissism where you need people who might not like you to wear things that say that they do... actually scary. Forcing people to adopt certain values (yes even basic empathy) only pushes people further away. Let's just be real.

I don't like such campaigns. I think it would be much better if LGBT+ players and fans were given a direct voice through spots or whatever. If people want to be homophobic, they should at least say it to our faces.

They should stop making the players wear it imo, it's just causing more animosity towards the community (as dumb as that is). If a player wants to wear it and show support that's awesome but making it mandatory is just causing more problems imo.

Yeah, these jersey stories always come up and just cause more backlash.

I have mixed feelings about  this

It's weird how FIFA is quick to sanction people for being racist, which is great, but not for this.

At the same time clubs forcing fake inclusivity actually ends up hurting the community when this happens. I just know there's a huge ammount of homophobic people cheering for this and those people are growing in numbers because of situations like this.

There will always be racists and homophobic groups but these things the clubs have been doing to be inclusive have had the opposite effect imo.

I hope they keep flopping this season  :alexz3:

Then why not just let the one homophobic player not wear it if they don't want to? If the rest of the players were genuinely allies (yeah, I know, they're not), wouldn't they still wear it?

I thought athletes wearing LGBT themed clothing was only an initiative taken during Pride Month ? Why are they doing it in December ? I'm genuinely asking…

Well they support a sexual offender :cm:

If you do not support the values, I don't want to see you touching or carrying any pride related symbols to begin with. Forcing or pushing sports teams that are so heavily homophobic to begin with in most cases to carry these symbols as some form of dumb activism is completely unnecessary.

It's unfortunate, but I guess it is what is is.

Sam Morsy of Ipswich Town also didn't wear it due to his Islamic faith. Also, Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace wrote "I love Jesus" and "Jesus loves you" on his rainbow armband. When he was asked what it meant, he gave a BS answer about "it was about inclusivity".

His dad (who's a pastor) said in an interview earlier today that it goes against their Christian faith, so that's why they couldn't support it.

"If you look at what the LGBT community are doing, they are trying to impose on others what they believe in, it's belief against belief, but at the end of the day everyone has the right to an opinion"

Does he know there are LGBTQ+ people who are Christians, right?:suburban:

Religion truly refuses to budge from #1 on the all time chart of things that prevent the world from being a better place :deadbanana2:

World's biggest source of hate, manipulation, war, division, etc. No self awareness, either. I always find it funny when religious people judge or make fun of "cults" or religions that are less mainstream. Mama, a cult behind you…

I'm convinced the conspiracy theory that religion was created by the government to keep people in line/under control is true
