• The hate towards Love On by Selena Gomez was unfair. It's a worthy rival to Sabrina's Espresso
• Take away the 5 pop perfection singles from Gwen's LAMB and the album is full of duds

• BRAT is one of Charli's worst albums. Yes, I am truly happy for her and all of the success she has had this era with her finally making it unto mainstream culture, but the project as a whole is just okay. There's 4-5 songs I genuinely enjoy and listen to on a regular basis.

 

• ARTPOP is Lady Gaga's best album. I'm not even going to explain myself here but those who get it, get and those who don't, don't. Though I have a feeling LG7 is coming for her wig.

 

• THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT is absolutely one of the best written albums of all time. The lyricism is top notch and a gold standard that even makes Taylor's previous efforts look weak in comparison. She hit a whole new stratosphere with this record and I can not wait to see what is next. (Yes, the verses of "I Hate It Here" are still cringe AF.)

 

• ATRL's lack of knowledge and refusal to get into male pop stars is concerning. Aside from Shawn Mendes (who you all only care about because you find him attractive and want to convert him to a gay with your ridiculous thirst and conspiracy theories) and The Weekend (every song of his apparently sounds the same now), most of you all don't know anything else. Like the fact that Justin Timberlake's Everything I Thought It Was is an amazing project and arguably in the top 10 of 2024.

 

• Radical Optimism is Dua Lipa's best album. Sure, Future Nostalgia has a more traditional pop sound and was the best pop-disco album released in forever, but overall Radical Optimism is more consistent, even if Future Nostalgia's highs are higher.

 

• Katy Perry's 143 is a damn decent album and has plenty of bops. Sure, the lyricism is nothing great and the songs are more generic than most of what else has been released this year, but that's the point. Katy's lyrics have never been that good and it's feel-good dance-pop music you're not supposed to take seriously.

 

• American football is the best sport. It's so damn entertaining and exciting with the variety of plays and unexpected moments. Also, when your home team is doing good, even better. Go Vikings!

 

• LEMONADE is still Beyoncé's best album and one of the all-time great ones. It explores the complexities of relationship and love, black culture, and the grieving/healing process in such a beautiful and intricate way. The visuals only enhance her experience and storytelling. COWBOY CARTER is a close second in terms of quality, though.

 

• Love. Angel. Music. Baby. is ssuchhh an overrated album. Like, yes it is plenty good, but it is no way a pop classic aside from a few songs. This Is What the Truth Feels Like is better and I said what I said.

OT: I don't really know what's popular or unpopular these days so it's hard to tell. I think Beyoncé's music is extremely overrated (quality and quantity wise). Her songs are nothing special in my opinion and their commercial performance/streams aren't particularly impressive. Her marketing is doing everything.

Lady Gaga is very dry and uninspired as a pop artist. She's only making rehash music like chromatica and disease because that's what her fans are begging her for.

 

Lana is a good song writer, but she makes boring music and can't perform to save her life. One of the least talented pop girls if we're being honest.

 

GOT and Stranger things are boring and overrated.

 

Sony needs to stop making Hollywood movie bait video games and focus on making fun games again. The best thing they've put out in a decade is a super mario galaxy rip off.

I'm literally angry with Lorde and the fact that, since 2017, the only album we've gotten from her is Solar Power.

 

She got too lazy and too rich too fast and it made her too precious and selective about making music and releasing. She is a fantastic artist and she certainly could have put something out since Solar Power, which was hardly worth the four year wait for that or whatever.

Madonna's truly great albums are limited to ROL, Music, and Confessions. They're phenomenal and all-timers.

 

True Blue, Erotica, Bedtime Stories, and Like a Prayer are very good but clearly not on the others' level and tend to get overrated by stans. The rest of her discography ranges from "decent but relatively mid pop" to "interesting but awful". She has a lot of subpar albums in her discography if we're being honest.

Non-stans overrate The Fame because all they see are the hits.

 

OOTB is Katy's only good album as a body of work. TD is uncohesive and some of the singles are overrated because they were such big hits.

Oppenheimer is a messy piece of storytelling that has a lot of narrative propulsion through the direction but lacks genuine narrative momentum in the script, and the plot focus of the 3rd act is so no1curr. Cillian is good but not even close to giving the best lead performance by an actor last year nor is the film Nolan's opus. At least half of last year's BP nominees would have made for better winners. 

 

Better Things is one of the best television dramedies of all-time.
