Yea, I was just about to say didn't Gwen and her siblings grow up with religious parents? Her (and Eric) just became a bit lapsed when they got into punk and ska music. Also, it always sticks with me that she says she never moved out of her parents home until she was 29 years old. That wouldn't be too unusual today in this terrible economy but back in the 90s? Kinda strange, especially when No Doubt had already blew up so she had some money. Per the lyrics of I'm Just A Girl, her parents clearly tried to keep her on a short leash for a while. She might not have even been allowed to be in a band with a bunch of guys had her brother not been there in the beginning.

I'm not going to hate on her for being a Christian or supporting a Christian-focused app. But I will say that it's very disappointing to see her promote an app that will only line the pockets of JD Vance.

I don't usually get super depressed by just seeing a celebrity endorse something weird like this in an ad but this time I could actively feel my face frowning more and more by the second and I feel like she's losing the plot and it's really sad to see. I don't wanna sound super parasocial and obviously it's her life but like… oh man, like some of y'all are saying it really does feel like she gains the identity of the person she's with. and that's always so sad to me. it feels like they're not thinking for themselves as much. hearing her speaking voice saying those words is unsettling

GWEN what happened sis! What happened to our cool, avant-garde, forward-thinking futuristic pop star? This is so sad (not her faith), I watch her old videos and while she looks the same, her personality has nearly gone the way of a Stepford Wife. I honestly haven't seen such a quick, drastic change in a person in such a short amount of time. To the point her music doesn't even reflect her anymore. I can hardly see the Gwen from the video's below anymore. I saw her live just years ago, and was so inspired by her effortless cool factor and have always been inspired by her ability to push the pop music genre.

 

At least we still have her gems I hope to get one more album from her after this country album era is over.
