Feanor Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago The most streamed artists in the US this year, from Spotify Wrapped: Only 1 female artist in the top 10… Not like the global performance is much better with only 3 women in the top 10, but it's still shocking to see how male dominated the biggest market in the world is. Why do you think do pop girls perform worse in the US than they do worldwide?
St. Charles Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago But hasn't this always been the case, especially with Spotify USA? Hip-hop and male artists usually do so much better and it's been that way since 2016. 1 4
shookspeare Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago men won't listen to female artists but women listen to male artists all the time 10 2
Gerardo Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Im surprised Chappel and Sabrina aren't here, their streams were very US-centric
UnusualBoy Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I mean US is mostly hip-hop and country oriented so the top 10 being infested by them isn't really shocking, Sabrina, Billie, Chappell and SZA had an amazing year nonetheless. 3 1
glitch Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago 1 minute ago, Gerardo said: Im surprised Chappel and Sabrina aren't here, their streams were very US-centric Their albums were the 5th and 3rd most streamed in the US but I guess they suffer from not really having many recurrent streams from previous eras since this is their breakout year 3 1
By the Water Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago It's actually surprising considering how they still dominated the albums top 10 even in the US. I guess male artists have stronger catalog streams in general while female artists rely more on recent hits 1
Bhabylon Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago it's not a woman's world and we're not lucky to be living in it 6
Gladiator Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Country and rap are bigger than dance pop in the United States.
Wicked Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Zach outstreamed Morgan? Is this the case on AM and Amazon Music too? Lemme go to r/Country and cause problems. 9
unclefloprry Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Countries now just listen their local acts, just see the Top 10 in Colombia, Mexico, France, Brazil, the UK and more. An international act being Top 50/100 is amazing for them
Nefertiti0 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Billie was close to the top 10 #11 Billie Eilish #14 SZA #18 Sabrina Carpenter #22 Ariana Grande #26 Lana Del Rey #28 Olivia Rodrigo #30 Chappell Roan #35 Rihanna #37 Beyonce #44 Doja Cat #46 Karol G #49 Nicki Minaj spotify
Gorjesspazze9 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Funny cuz earlier this year people said Hip hop was dying in the U.S. lol i think it was declining but not dying. Kendrick and Drake kinda proved that. intresting how massive country has came back tho, wonder if Rock music will ever get a real revival. Pop girls still are what the people stream tho. Moonlight Nation Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Besides what @shookspeare highlighted about straight men typically not listening to any female artists due to insufferable toxic stigmas while other demographics will listen to everyone, there's also the fact that hip hop and country are the most popular genres stateside, both of which are still frustratingly male-dominated and whose communities are frequently unfriendly, if not outright hostile, to women in the industry. There's no female equivalent to Zach Bryan, Luke Combs, or Morgan Wallen, while even with more and more female rappers achieving big commercial success, they're never fully embraced by the industry unless they take the pop route (see Nicki Minaj and Doja Cat, and even then they struggled to achieve respect from rap audiences because of this). GloRilla is getting commendable success on US Apple Music and Doechii has been getting some important co-signs from the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Tyler The Creator, which are promising developments, but we still have a long way to go. applestar Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Chapstick, Sabrina, and Olivia = untalented fads Taytay, ari, fadga = no academy awards Charli = Kamala lost
Into The Void Posted 53 minutes ago Posted 53 minutes ago Odd considering how big Sabrina's songs were
chiliam Posted 13 minutes ago Posted 13 minutes ago imagine if Taylor doesnt come back to Spotify..... we need Billie/Olivia/Sabrina/Doja Cat/ Chappell to build their catalouge faster
