shyboi Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago (edited) Quote "i tried to starve myself thinner and then i gained all the weight back" is this the rawest, most honest female lyric ever? it just sounds so sincere, the way she talks (sings), like really from the depths of her psyche and it probably resonated with millions of people everywhere Edited 10 hours ago by shyboi 4 1 3 6 1
RideOrDie Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago If I told you that I was raped Do you really think that anybody would think I didn't ask for it? I didn't ask for it I won't testify, I already ****** up my story 8 2

thatsmydemi Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago "It's just a little white line, I'll be fine But soon that little white line is a little glass pipe Tin foil remedy almost got the best of me I keep praying I don't reach the end of my lifetime" 1
LovingDays Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago From that song, I would choose "It's just self-defense until you're building a weapon" Unsurprisingly, my all-time favorite female lyric is a similar line from Fiona Apple "You maim when you're on offense, but you kill when you're on defense" 1 1

bielneira Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I'd say her whole verse is one of the rawest ever You'd always say, "Let´s go out" But then I'd cancel last minute I was so lost in my head And scared to be in your pictures 'Cause for the last couple years I've been at war with my body I tried to starve myself thinner And then I gained all the weight back I was trapped in a hatred And your life seemed so awesome I never thought for a second My voice was in your head "Girl, you walk like a *****" When I was ten someone said that And it's just self-defense Until you're building a weapon She believed my projection And now I totally get it Rawest and relatable af 1
Digitalism Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago The thing about her whole verse is that it feels so sincere and personal. It's one of those songs where it may not be something universal but it can still resonate because you can feel it is real. 3

Beyonnaise Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) It's crazy how hopping on a synthy remix allowed Lorde to access her most honest writing in years. Suddenly all the silly stoner'd "we live in a society" lines from Solar Panel felt irrelevant because she was actually baring her soul in real time by responding to Charli. Fascinating song. My hot take about Lorde is that she's an overthinker. My other favorite songs from her, Ribs and A World Alone, came from that crazy period when she was trying to get an album out after Royals became the biggest song in the world. When she takes years on an album, it doesn't always yield the best results. Edited 10 hours ago by Beyonnaise 1 4
shoganai Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) I remember the bodyshaming she and her ex bf received during Pure Heroine and all the jokes about their goofiness, think about it now it was just cruelty towards two kids. Edited 9 hours ago by shoganai 2

Cannon Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago It's very honest. Lorde's verse in this song is one of the most important verses this entire decade. 2 1

yASSsss Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Yes, her whole verse is. I remember listening to it for the first time and getting teary eyed cause it was so raw and unexpected in a song like this. Best song of the year, tbh 1
