The recording academy and thousands of fans that have shown up for him at festivals and tour dates this year aren't in a social media bubble. He's had radio hits too and hasn't declined success wise since his label debuted almost 10 years ago. 1 hour ago, Gossip_Boy said: They're both irrelevant. The difference is Nas will always be remembered because no one has done what he did as an openly gay black man and he definitely paved the way for more queer artists in the mainstream no matter how much white gays hate to hear it. You can't erase history. Troye Sivan has been consistently irrelevant since the beginning of his career. So…congrats on the consistency I guess. KKKTRL should start streaming his music instead of constantly trying to bring down black artists and their achievements cause if those are the numbers he's pulling during his "relevant era" then Notice how I did not attempt to bring down Lil Nas X with the thread and highlighted his SEVERAL achievements including 6 songs w/ over 1 billion streams, 2 grammy award wins, and genuine impact on the musical and queer scene. The artist with much less resources on a lower label imprint is out streaming and doing better touring wise than somebody with 6 songs with billions of streams. Nas is working with producers like Daft Punk for his new album and Troye is sticking with the same people he's been with for a decade now. Pointing that out isn't diminishing to Nas' previous success I'm just stating how I find it interesting that Troye has been consistently rising with his releases and Nas has hit a wall. Troye's album is almost at a billion streams and Nas will be lucky to pass 100m by the release of his. He hasn't reached the peak of Nas' success but he has much more consistent touring output, album sales, and general success as of now. 1

Thats cute, but his last remotely legit hit was in his debut album, he may get Grammy votes which will lead to no wins as usual but he's a niche to grand majority compared to montero
Jump Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Part of the reason that Troye has cultivated a gay fanbase is that his music is consistently gay pop. Can't say the same for Lil Nas X, whose music sounds more Tik Tok adjacent
Lady Claire Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I like both of them but Troye still belongs to a niche while Nas, even though flopping, is far more known outside our bubble. Troye might be doing better numbers but culturally speaking Nas still is more relevant That might change in the future though 4
AlbumOfTheYear Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Troye benefits from and gets certain passes for skin deep reasons.

Though he doesn't chart high with his singles, his albums have consistently good debuts and his touring base is becoming larger by the day. Troye has done 4 headlining tours, one co-headlining arena tour, sub headlined the biggest music festivals in the world and only seems to be rising. He has done tour dates in almost every major market and has done over 200 headlining shows. By comparison Lil Nas is still a huge artist culturally and streaming wise. He has several #1 hits and has a cemented cultural legacy unlike any modern gay artist (maybe until Chappell Roan). He has 6 songs with BILLIONS of streams on Spotify and have staying power. He has several Grammy nominations and 2 grammy wins. However his fanbase seems small. He has done a single headlining tour with 29 dates that only played in theaters. In America, Europe, and Oceania he only did Theaters and Pavillions and he has seldom been on large festival lineups. Nas' last few singles have struggled to make a dent because he is using the same tactics that simply aren't hitting anymore. Troye is utilizing those same tactics much more successfully than Nas at this point and is reaping the benefits of it. It seems like Nas' schtick is generally wearing thin whereas Troye is making music more catered to himself that is garnering a more loyal and consistent fanbase. Comparison with singles solely from Spotify: Rush: 385 million Got Me Started: 166 million One Of Your Girls: 297 million J Christ: 42 million Star Walkin: (league of legends anthem collab): 456 mil Light Again: 3 mil Given what I've shown, is it safe to say Troye is more relevant at this point? Lil Nas X tour was a sold out success Most of his music he released this year has been recieved well.

Beyoncé was named the biggest artist of the century literally days ago by one of the biggest pop culture references of all time. Kendrick Lamar is occupying the entire top 5 of the Hot 100 as we speak. Shaboozey just spent 5 months at #1. How is there "no room for diversity" and "pop culture whiter than ever"? When the music is good it shines by itself. Nas has no talent and as expected and predicted by everyone he fell off as soon as his gimmicks got old. It has nothing to do with race.
