haven't heard enough of them to fairly choose but i will say i am BAFFLED by the choice of Like A Prayer when madonna has at least 8 better albums

It's probably controversial but I don't actually think Body Talk as an album works well compared to experiencing it in real-time as a 3-EP series.

Like on its own, it's still a compilation of great songs, but it feels more like a compilation than an album.

 

To be fair, she could have intended at the time to always make it a full album with all 3 parts coming together. I can't remember the exact details. I just remember it feeling like things got weird near Part 3 and like gears shifted with them putting out the 'album' when Part 3 was supposed to come out?

 

I always hated that this was kept off the 'full' album compilation:

It's still a good compilation of strong songs but feels like cheating almost to consider it one album instead of 3 mini albums each separate bodies of work.

 

Especially when her self-titled is also stronger overall as a fully-realized album.
