BrentB Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 I always found it odd that Waka Waka had a whole Columbian lady as the lead with all the other African featured artists serving a "Jai Ho Nicole (feat The Pussycat Dolls)." That never sat well with me. And the fact that nobody really calls this out to this day is mind-boggling. The world really said "We want Africa to host the World Cup but we want a white-presenting Latina chick presenting it to us." Sick world we live in indeed . 1

They point is to look for a famous singer to do the anthem to hype the event up. Ricky Martin did France's official song, Pitbull was the lead on Brazil's official song, and Nicky Jam was the lead on Russia's. Needless to mention Waka Waka was very tasteful in everything it attempted (and succeeded) to do, that's why it was the most successful World Cup single for the last 2 World Cups over their actual brand new official songs! 1
