Katamari Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) So in 2023 spotify had around 230 Spotify premium users Xmas is a universal globally loved event and even then Mariah had set the record with 23 million In 2024 Taylor has the record with 28 million with current users being around 260 million premium Am I wrong for thinking it's kind of low. Or are there ppl who don't even use Spotify for music how does the daily Spotify counter even work Edited 6 hours ago by Katamari
Popboi. Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago There's billions of songs available, a lot of accounts are streaming either unknown songs, or go too spread out on the bigger hits, old classics and more niche in the mainstream or are mostly inactive outside a few plays. Over 20 million plays on one particular song in one day is beyond huge. Mariah and Brenda might eventually go as high as 30. 1

glitch Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I feel like I stream most Christmas songs at most a couple of times per season. Also most people who are listening to Christmas music on Christmas day are probably playing it on their speakers at a big gathering, so 1 user may be playing it, but many more people are hearing the songs
Kyle-x Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago A lot of countries' Spotify charts are still dominated by their own local/regional acts so streams aren't necessarily going to be super concentrated to a specific genre/song/artist everywhere

Cheers Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago People don't have Christmas joy anymore because they see it as a ploy to spend money. Thank you, Mariah!!!!! 1
kimberly Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Christmas is also a community event. If you're with family, friends or loved ones, you won't ALL play music separately, only one person will. This is part of the reason why Spotify numbers are really low in the days following Christmas, too. I remember 34+35 and Good Days being #1 with like 750k streams in the US. 1
Almighty Gaga Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago What makes you think 200 million people will happen to simultaneously listen to the same song on the same day

Individual users don't stream it much

Or are there ppl who don't even use Spotify for music how does the daily Spotify counter even work In 1999 - 2002 close to 1 BILLION albums were sold in the US alone... and not many albums amassed 1 million weekly. (or more). And that is only one country. Over 3,6 BILLION albums were sold annually in that timeframe. Imagine anyone selling 23 million copies in 1 day.

At least ppl hear those xmas songs, unlike the TTH entries which are farmed.

Over 150 countries on this planet do... including Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, Qatar. We need Egypt tho, which is true. Give in 2 more weeks and we'll be there. Even tho most of those predominantly non-Christian countries do not have a developed music industry.
dumbsparce Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Don't know if this was mentioned but, especially on Xmas day, most ppl listen to the songs in gatherings. Meaning those 23 million streams probably equal to 200 million individual listens at the very minimum. Edited 2 hours ago by dumbsparce
