Did Chappell Roan steal Renee Rapp's nachos?

I saw this tweet and it got me thinking

In the beginning of this year Renee was doing really well with her new album out, Mean Girls musical being a box-office hit, she was getting booked to perform and host at SNL. People were appreciating her vocals and talent.

Not My Fault feat Megan was charting very well (for Renee's standards) and had the potential to be a cute hit.

Renee was going viral on Twitter almost every day and people were stanning her charismatic persona

But then... April came by, Coachella happened, and all of a sudden Chappell rose to stardom after her viral perfomances and her stannable charismatic attitude, and the rest is herstory.

Do you think Renee Rapp deserved to have as much success as Chappell has right now? What prevented it from happening?

Renee is the one to blame if anyone because she disappeared when she was at the height of her fame. I like her and I forgot about her :rip:

Renee is a very gifted vocalist but the songs aren't distinct. That said, I think she'll have more longevity than Chappell. There's a difference between colourful & obnoxious. People are laughing with Renee & laughing at Chappell

I was actually thinking this too! Reneé was the IT lesbian for a bit but she never really popped off outside of gay spaces unlike Chappell. Chappell's album was way better it must be said. I think there could still be space for Reneé, since her sound and image is completely different. I'd love to see her go down a more soul/R&B route because she really has the voice for it. These sad girl Olivia B-sides aren't doing it for me

A little bit maybe, but Chappell has way better music with more personality and identity. Renne has the talent but not quite the artistry/taste and I don't see her happening in a big way until that changes.

Renee's problem is that she is incredibly talented and likable as a person (I love her personality and her dgaf-ness, whereas Chappell seems like a rude and hard to please/constant complainer person).

Renee's ONLY thing holding her back rn is that her music has been plain boring and non-notable, whereas Chappell's music has been undeniably really good, regardless what you think of her personality. At the end of the day, the music is what really matters for superstardom. Plenty of messy people are stars. She just needs an album that is really noteworthy and powerful and she will explode in popularity.

Renee isn't strong enough to make it. She lacks something i can't put my finger on it.

Chapell will slowly be the cause of her own decline. She won't be around much anyway.

I dont think so, has Renee even done/released anything since? I feel like she just toured? she can still happen with the right material / if it gets exposure and clicks with ppl

well yes but if we're being real hayley kiyoko is nowhere to be found nowadays which is a shame. i feel like if she debuted around this time she would've grown a bigger fanbase.

Never heard of a Renee Rapp, so I don't know. Yes

Renee is currently working with Chappell and Olivia's producer. Dan Nigro also said that CR2 might not come out until 2026, so Renee could have a moment next year since there will be little competition (besides Tate I guess?)

I'm friends with lesbians who stan all of the trendy lesbian artists so I have heard them all, and I think it's pretty clear why Chappell had the whole package to blow up: a distinct personality, better music, more memorable aesthetic.

Renée, Fletcher, Hayley, Girl In Red, MUNA, G Flip, etc all might make a serviceable bop or two but they're indistinct and lack an X factor.

I've been very conscious about trying to consume queer artists more as of lately. I gave Reneé a chance but sadly I agree she's not distinctive enough. Absolutely beautiful voice and likable personality but what she has to offer musically hasn't moved me. :dancehall2:

ATRL loves to hate on Reneé, she's a gifted singer and songwriter, she tells stories and not making faceless pop songs like dua lipa, ava max etc. and we all see the result, Reneé has a stable, loyal fanbase and her tours sell out in a minute while the other two i mentioned are not, one flop era and their base is erased, barely sell out their gigs. Her debut, Snow Angel ended up with a score of 75 and was praised for the angst and pent-up energy which most pop songs lack these days. I hope she stays in this route where she can live from her music and not the faceless one where she will end up with maybe 1 or 2 hits and 2 praise threads on ATRL.

the way i havent heard renee rapps name since her speech is a kii, your position is far away from being taken serious as a figure in industry sis. her nacho is singing ability which chappell is obviously not on renee musical level so she would gladly take back her nachos for now.

Reneé is a good vocalist and that's it. Chappell is a songwriter and a performer. She's a true artist. The nachos were always her's!!!

Chappell is distinct and has charisma. Every time I see Renee I am reminded of the actress AnnaLynne McCord and how she looks practically identical to Renee but prettier.

Is "stole X's nachos" the new thing now? :rip:

Renee Rap is an Old Navy pop star

Literally the only thing they have in common is that they both take a dip in the lady pond, them liking the punani doesn't mean there's spot for one or the other.

After hearing her Beyonce covers, I think Renee would be far more interesting of an artist if she delved deeper into more R&B pop. She has the vocals for it. I understand her reasons why she doesn't but as of now, she's making some of the blandest, unremarkable pop music imaginable and there's absolutely nothing that stands out with her. There's over a dozen other pop girls in the lane she's trying to break in and most are doing it far better (Chappell included). I still maintain her best chances of becoming a star will be in Hollywood and Broadway not music.
