We all know that Leona Lewis's One More Sleep is a modern Christmas classic. But now it's officially been named the UK's most-played modern Christmas song.

Since its release in 2013, One More Sleep has accumulated the equivalent of 14 weeks of continuous airplay on UK radio and television.

That put its comfortably ahead of the next most-played modern Christmas song, Underneath the Tree by Kelly Clarkson, which has accumulated the equivalent of 11 weeks of continuous radio and TV airplay.

Modern is defined as released in the 21st century

The Top 10 most-played modern Christmas songs in full

01. One More Sleep – Leona Lewis

02. Underneath The Tree – Kelly Clarkson

03. Warm This Winter – Gabriella Cilmi

04. Christmas Time – The Darkness

05. Christmas Lights – Coldplay

06. Merry Christmas – Ed Sheeran & Elton John

07. It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas – Michael Bublé

08. Somewhere Only We Know – Lily Allen

09. Santa Tell Me – Ariana Grande

STM is too low

I was just in London and this came on in an Uber lol. Queen of British Christmas. Also she has a writing credit on this so the amount of publishing coin she's getting is probably insane. If you get a Christmas classic you are set for life.

I hear this all the time. Santa Tell Me's radio play is so low compared to its streaming performance it's strange

I've always thought this too. I don't think Santa Tell Me gets a lot of sync opportunities on TV as well, whereas I hear One More Sleep and Underneath The Tree all the time on british daytime tv. Probably a connection there with the demographics who would turn on the radio / watch daytime TV as opposed to stream

The fact that STM made it into the Top 10 is a good sign. This isn't about most played in general, it just includes radio and TV and the fact it's also top 10 there is great. Ariana isn't exactly a radio darling, so it makes sense Kelly's and Leona's songs are higher as they appeal more to this demographic.

It is the fourth highest Christmas song on Spotify and the 12th highest on Apple Music right now, respectively. Add#9 on radio & TV, so yeah, it's a very good position.
