Antisocialites Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago it's simple, favorite artist you've discovered or got into this year that you have become obsessed with their musical output. it's Françoise Hardy for me. her music is just excellent. I'm so glad I still have quite a few more albums to complete her whole discography. also, RIP queen.
Ewan Chaos Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I didn't really listen to many older artists that are new to me this year, and in terms of 2024 releases my favorites were mostly artists I already stan. But 2 musicians that were new to me that I love from this year were Juliana Gattas & Fabiana Palladino. I'd embed songs by them but the site is dying
Cruel Summer Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Honestly, it's been getting way deeper into AG Cook's material as a lead artist, then sort of branching off from there. I think my most played track of the year not quite by plays but by total time, given its length, is Luddite Factory Operator, and Lucifer is another in my top ten. Of course I was already a fan of his work with Charli and with artists like Utada, but some of the tracks on Britpop stand out in such a different, unique way. LFO is maybe one of my favorite musical pieces ever created. Lucifer is essentially the perfect simple, catchy pop song. Once some tracks from Britpop started being released early this year, I also got into his album with easyFun/Finn Keane as Thy Slaughter, released last December, and found plenty of magic there, too. One track with some of the same energy or vibe as LFO was Shine A Light, and I think there's a little thread between that one, LFO, One Last Kiss and Gold by Utada, and some tracks on Charli's 2019 album that I think are pretty fascinating, along with some other songs here and there and a few unreleased tracks. It's hard to put words to, but there's a feeling there, some common sound that clicks with something in my brain. It's also inspired me to look for a few other things in the electronic music world that I feel I initially missed out on. While none of his work really falls into this genre, I've started to delve into liquid drum and bass. Because of the general sounds of Britpop as an album and because it's largely (though nowhere close to entirely) instrumentally-focused, it's also led me to getting more into modern classical music and video game and anime soundtracks. It's been such a cool jumping-off point. It's also really not something I get to discuss on ATRL much, outside tangential mentions in the context of discussing Charli, but Brat (in all its perfect excellency) sort of sucks up all the air in the room in that discussion, given his work on that album. I can discuss some of the other most brilliant works of the year, like Galina by Allie X or some of Tinashe's newest album, but some of the extremely good work on Britpop goes unnoticed, and I feel like it's going to be the most underrated album of the year by quite a lot, outside incredibly niche spaces. I'll leave my favorite track of the year (tied with Galina) here to inspire some thought. 1
Alldeezy Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Stray Kids The Ready Set I love them more than Allday this year so that's saying something. my stan list went from Evermore to Denis Stoff To Allday in span of 2005 - 2023 then manage to stan two new ones this year alone

jezebelvictoria Posted 6 minutes ago Posted 6 minutes ago $uicideboy$ I've known of them for years but in February I listened to their entire discography which consists of 350+ plus songs. I've listened to them nonstop since and have become the greatest artists of all time to me.
