I've been saying it for like half a decade now, but Billie's career trajectory truly reminds me of Taylor's in a way. Both considered as some sort of "child prodigies", meaning that they were respected singer-songwriters from a young age. And their eras kind of match up as well:

Taylor Swift - don't smile at me (debut eras that built hype on them)

Fearless - WWAFA,WDWG? (peak)

Speak Now - Happier Than Ever (start of public fatigue + underappreciated masterpiece that were made justice over time)

Red - Hit Me Hard And Soft (smash hits, radio darlings)

Could Billie end up reaching Taylor's heights if she keeps going this route? Discuss!

While it's hard to neatly map out her trajectory in the broader lexicon of pop history because she's a fully streaming era artist, Billie is definitely an all-encompassing dominant music act in a way no other pop girl since Ariana has been, so in that sense yes she can best be described as the Taylor of her generation success wise.

By comparison it feels too soon to determine the trajectories of Olivia, Sabrina, Dua, Doja and Chappell despite their success. Billie has established herself with four smash eras and historic accolades in a way the others have not.

I don't think billie is as ambitious and I don't believe she will go to Taylor's lengths to keep getting hits as time goes on

I don't think Billie is aiming for the same things as Taylor did her whole life.

Lover ended up being the biggest 2019 album, be serious :rip:

Billie will be the biggest artist of her generation and rightfully so, I don't know if she can reach this level of success, especially since she would need way more pure sales support but in the end, she will still be the biggest gen Z celeb :clap3:

Billie's significantly farther than Taylor was at the same point in her career, but you can't really compare them because streaming is increasing music success dramatically. Taylor struggled with global appeal and didn't even start to break out outside of the U.S. and Asia until 1989, and most of her global success was nonexistent until she moved to Republic. Billie has a huge foot forward because she wasn't indie for nearly as long.

At the same point in their careers: WWAFAWDWG > DSAM > Fearless > HTE > HMHAS > TS > SN > Holiday Collection > Beautiful Eyes

I don't see her as a successor to anyone really since her career trajectory so far doesn't match anyone's but hers. It's completely unique. And it only works for her seeing as the new girls these labels push to mirror Billie doesn't get the same result. They operate on two different planets as far as I'm concerned.

I guess her being the biggest Gen Z artist like Taylor is with Millenials is the only comparable thing to them.
