Walmart has joined a growing list of major corporations and rolled back its diversity, equity and inclusion policies.

The move by the world's largest retailer marks a seismic shift in corporate strategy that comes after attacks by conservatives and activists at the company's 'woke' policies.

Some of the sweeping changes include abandoning a $100 million racial equity center set up in 2020 after the police killing of George Floyd and leaving a prominent LGBTQ+ gay rights index.

The retail juggernaut also won't be giving priority treatment to suppliers that are 51 percent-owned by women, minorities, veterans or members of the LGBTQ community.

These companies never genuinely really cared in the first place, so this is not shocking to me what so ever.

Thoughts?

Meaning they won't prioritize the policies.

Although Blacks have not ultimately benefited from these programs, in their mind, we do. That's why they want to get rid of it.

Just like Affirmative Action.  We do not benefit from those programs.

Is there much difference between the American DEI and European equal opportunity?

i mean, they were never serious about it to begin with but it's insane and scary how easy these companies cave to the right. it's not like they would suffer financially if they just ignored the right wingers lol.

I'm the first to make fun of the USA but nearly every country is moving in a far-right wing direction.

All of us are "doomed and done"

They will still implement them but not have it as a main focus I believe. It might be just the marketing aspect like heavy  promotions. They still have follow the guidelines and laws about discrimination. The lawsuits would be astronomical  if they don't.

ijbol @ "conservative activists" . How is that even possible?

The article tying this to the "attack of conservative activists" is inaccurate.

This was a 5 year commitment from the beginning, it was started in 2020 and it's almost 2025.

People on both sides making this more than it actually is.

I implore any non-white person to get some sort of education at the top of the year or at the very least start the process. The gap between college educated white vs. non-white has narrowed pretty greatly in the last 20 years while white education seems to have plateaued slightly (growth is not similar). I think r*cists whites are definitely afraid of their prominence being erased in the field of education, as well as erase opportunities for others in "lower" positions. They are quickly becoming a minority as well…..

A place where most of their employees are diverse, deserve equity, and inclusion.
