TTPD has zero songs charting on Spotify Global. What went wrong?

Even with a 300m+ streaming debut, why did this era go so "unnoticed" outside of the stan bubble compared to Midnights?

Nothing went wrong. It just didn't have any smash hit carrying it.

the last single is over 4 months old :michael: it's not as if Taylor missed the chart she's still there now

The bloated track list was always going to make it difficult for one song to stand out, even the more obvious "singles" get lost in the shuffle, but it also feeling very derivative of her past work (and so soon after Mid) didn't help either

For its entire first year, everyone on this site called Midnights front-loaded, unknown to the GP, only consumed by fans and hit-less. And that's been the case with every single album of hers since 2016. What you're saying about TTPD going 'unnoticed' outside the fanbase was said countless times on here about reputation, Lover, folklore, evermore and Midnights. How did that turn out?

That's good, she won't be at risk of overexposure when TS12 arrives. :clap3:

I mean it's 7 months old and the last single was genuinely unpleasant to listen to and has basically ended its chart run :suburban:

What do you expect?

The album is still clocking 10M/ day across its entire tracklist, indicating strong and consistent interest in the singles and the tracks and will have basically all 31 tracks over 100M by the end of the year, let's not pretend it's a streaming flop because she hasn't resorted to the autoplay game :suburban:

I totally disagree calling Midnights front-loaded, that album is a blockbuster in every single metric since day 1. Even the ones who wasn't familiar with her discography was listening to it.

I love the album but the majority of the tracks are not single material. And she released ICDIWABH way too late.

She didn't put River Kern, Loveless and Rhodeo on the deluxe so that's what she gets

That's quite shocking for Taylor actually. Is the album that bad? :rip:

Is not bad, just bloated and the best tracks get lost

I had to creat a 10 track version of the album

Rarely go through the whole thing, I don't have the time

You had to wait 7 months to make this thread.  Meanwhile you could have made it for her some of her "peers" months ago or writhing mere weeks of their album releases.

TTPD does not have a four quadrant hit single on it like cruel Summer, Love Story, Blank Space, or Anti Hero and thus was not carried by a single.  That is fine though.  She is in her 11th release and does not need a single for the public to engage with her.

so many threads on ATRL basically read "this international megahit record was in fact a big old flop by these metrics that i just cherrypicked, what went wrong?"

It just wasn't her best album. And there's no smash carrying it. Plus only one proper MV.

As it should :clap3:

Doing 10 million streams a day is bad?

I don't think she was chasing a hit with this album.

She knows when a song has hit potential—even when she gets it wrong, like with ME! or You Need To Calm Down. You can tell those have that basic, kind of surface-level lyricism. This album just doesn't feel like that. It's more like she's flexing and saying, 'I can drop whatever I want.

I think she has the right intention: she's chasing a legacy where she innovates and gives the public deep, meaningful music. But maybe TTPD just wasn't it for the general audience.

GP knows about Taylor only from tabloids articles about her PR relationship or tour. They dont listen to her.
