Idk why Lily is doing it like did she blow through all her money or something?

Girl she literally sang about it

I wanna be rich and I want lots of money

I don't care about clever, I don't care about funny

I want loads of clothes and fuckloads of diamonds

I heard people die while they're trying to find them

And I'll take my clothes off and it will be shameless

'Cause everyone knows that's how you get famous

Girl, those lyrics were meant to shine a light on cultural problems like consumerism and materialism and how concerned Lily was about these things.

Sure she might changed from then to now but listening to the song you can immediately tell they weren't meant to be taken seriously. :rip:

These replies :rip: you just hate anyone who isn't successful and isn't backed by a big label. She's showing what the reality is for smaller independent artists and she's fighting for her career. And she can do whatever the **** she wants with her body

The entitlement. The fact that there's someone even willing to go see her live is precisely because they have a platform to stream her music. It is not her God-given right to have fans, she has to work for them.

even though it might not be always the most socially conventional option out there but at least she's trying, hope it works out all for her.:clap3:

This has me really confused. So, when smaller faves of mine like Tinashe or Rina Sawayama go on tour, is it possible they lose money instead of making it? If that's the case, what's even the point of touring? How do they end up losing money? and how all these artists sustain their lifestyles without good money from music or touring?

I've noticed smaller artists often don't have huge productions—just a screen, some dancers, and that's about it. Is booking those venues really that expensive? :gaycat4:If an artist doesn't sell out the venue, can they lose money too?

And this is someone who is a well-known name with a million monthly listeners.

Now think how smaller artists even make this work.

All the music you love, even the biggest songs (which often have 10+ writers on them), are the product of the lifetime of work of many many many artists, several of whom can't make ends meet just through music.

Something needs to change with how streaming distributes profit and how expensive touring has become. Because if you like hearing music on your commute, at the bar, going to concerts, you should care. It's not just a 'passion project', it's people's life's work and their livelihood and if they can't do it anymore, well then you're going to have to settle for writing camp nepo babies being the only thing you hear from now on.

I honestly miss the time when everything was physical. I liked to own my things.
Lets :gaycat4: make streaming illegal and go back to CD's and Cassetess :gaycat3:

I imagine Tinashe/Rina are getting some kind of guaranteed payment but yes people can lose money, even big names. How are they staying afloat? Advances, endorsements, private performances, a lot of people come from wealthy families which is why they were able to get into music/funding their own projects at first in the first place. Dancers, big screens and the crew necessary to put them up are expensive as hell. You can lose money selling out a venue yes. It's bad out there.

I'm surprised this thread has so many comments looking down on artists for selling some nudes to fund their career. :spin: Make fun of her/Lily Allen, but continue to stuff those twitter bookmarks full of porn, gays
