The Fame Monster turns 15

15 years ago, Lady Gaga released her second album The Fame Monster

 

 

The album continued the meteoric rise to fame for the superstar, launching hits like Bad Romance, Telephone, and Alejandro.

At the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, The Fame Monster won 3 awards, including Best Pop Vocal Album, and gave her a second Album of the Year nomination in a row.

 

 

The album follows a theme of monsters, fears that Gaga confronts as she navigates her past and newfound fame. Previous The Fame producers RedOne and Space Cowboy join Gaga on this europop record, in addition to new collaborators in Fernando Garibay, Ron Fair, Darkchild, Tal Herzberg, Beyoncé, and Ted Riley.

Just... iconic. What an era. Videos, performances. And the SONGS, omg the songs. She wasn't put on the map by this album, she became the map with it.  Everyone wanted to be Gaga but there was only one. And Dance In The Dark. If you haven't heard it, listen. One of the greatest albums of all time. I could NOT stop playing it endlessly when it was released. Every song is great, but the thematic consistency, genre mixing, dark electropop gems that make this masterpiece what it is set it apart from other albums of its time. A classic
