The7thStranger Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) I remember finding Steps really annoying, and I wasn't surprised they didn't take off. Europop had its succeses in the States, but overall our 90s/00s were more into rock/alternative and rap. S Club 7 just didn't have a lot of mainstream US appeal. Maybe if it had aired on the Disney Channel, it would have had more success like HSM. But it aired on ABC Family, which was one of those channels that wasn't fully for kids nor fully for adults. Kind of a confused off-shoot. But really, neither S Club 7's 70s-AM-Gold vibes nor Steps's europop were en vogue enough in the States at the time. Edited 2 hours ago by The7thStranger
Titanbaddie Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Corny, despite all those groups having one random hit each they weren't really a thing in the US because at the time the US was having a huge R&B and Hip Hop moment, even the huge bands like Backstreet and Nysnc ended up trying to get R&B-esque hits.
