If Ana de Armas got an Oscar nod for Blonde, there's still hope for Gaga?

Quick question, quick answer. Yes or no?

Back in 2022, Ana de Armas starred the infamous panned fictional Marilyn Monroe bio-pic Blonde, which was nominated for several Razzie awards, even winning two of them. Despite of that, Ana still got a nomination at the Oscars for Best Actress.

Currently, The Joker: Folie à Deux is a movie panned by the critics, just like Blonde, but we know for a fact the critics praised Gaga's acting in the same movie. So, is there still a chance for Gaga to pull an Ana de Armas and get nominated :gaycat4:?

Not as an actress but "Folie a Deux" in Best Original Song wouldn't be too far off if she did a campaign for it. But she won't, so

The good sis got her big check, got praised for her performance, and that's it. So no, she won't get nominated, especially for such a film :suburban:

Now y'all, it's time to move on from JFAD, cause anyone has already done so

She's like #28 in the probability list for best supporting actress nominations. :rip: Y'all really been trying that "praised in a panned film" argument. :deadbanana:

It's not going to happen for this movie. I thought for sure she was going to get a nomination for House of Gucci, but she didn't. And if she can't even get a nomination for that movie, she definitely won't for this one. Better luck next time.

Ana played one of the most iconic women in history. It's a classic Oscar bait role that usually gets nominated for acting although the film is panned.

Was Blonde one of the biggest box office BOMBS of all time like Lady Gaga's Joker:FAD was?

Honestly I'm sure a lot of the actors voted for Ana because of the type of performance, and also the level of commitment and vulnerability she displayed. Say what you will about Blonde (and I was not a fan of the movie although I did enjoy the book), but it's a fearless performance which is always gonna get points with the acting branch. Jamie Lee Curtis was also in her corner which isn't nothing.

Gaga doesn't have the screen time or the narrative, and the film is a bomb, critically and financially. Not happening.

The only awards that movie might get are razzie's. If she had promoted the soundtrack or harlequin she might have gotten nominated for best original song but…..

As a fan I already moved on from the movie. I wish ATRL would do the same.

Blonde didn't have box office flop attached to it. Not a traditional major studio picture so it maintained some prestige art house appeal. Ana campaigned hard the whole race. Gaga, and WB, have walked away.

Ana herself was praised while many things around the movie were not, I see the similarities with Gaga in that regard but she's BARELY in Joker for her or Warner to even bother trying to campaign for her nomination. Better to dodge the bullet and not do anything to bring it further attention, and save time and energy for the next role.

No. While Blonde was a mess, Ana was given an amazing acting showcase on a platter that also portrayed an Old Hollywood legend. And on top of that, she had been considered a starlet/ingenue on the rise for a few years so Blonde was a good way for Hollywood to officially coronate her.

Gaga was great in Joker, and it's by far her most technically strong performance, but it ain't happening. WB ain't gonna do much for the film atp and Gaga and her team have moved on from it too.
