Maybe, but it's like some straight guys and sports... they like it because of the rivalries and competition. And a lot of gays closely follow the chart battles and compare sales and streams in the same way. In both cases it forms part of their identity and when their favorite singer or team succeeds they feel better.

I don't think most gay pop fans really hate any other pop star or fan base. It's just they see them as competition and want their favorite to win.

And let's not pretend that a lot of major performers, or at least their labels, aren't happy to feed and encourage these rabid fanbases into becoming deeply invested in the singer and their success.

i agree i dont think the rivalry aspect in music is bad per se and it can be fun but like with sports ppl take it to another level
