Why didn't Katy book a small-font slot at Coachella?

She released singles and albums fairly recently, so of course she is probably looking to promote them. Why didn't she book even a small-font slot?

There's no need for it. I listened to the 143 tracks during Rock In Rio and they sound horrible live. There's no need for an entire set with Dr. Luke leftover productions. We already had greatest hits medleys this year. There's nothing really left for her except for tour and go on a really long break to find whatever artistry she has left in her.

I think those songs would be impossible to perform live. Coachella audiences are becoming dead enough as it is. Pop headliners would need to be super strong performers (like Beyonce)

Like she has headlined and given us several performances and concerts in the span of two months, why would she book a slot on Coachella. Not everyone needs to do Coachella, hun. Let the smaller girls have some spotlight, like seriously I want to see other artists than whoever is popular at the moment to perform.

even if her new music is a huge flop, katy perry's name still has some renown. it would feel super weird for her to be at coachella and not headline

Rock In RIo and AFL Grand FInal, both concerts with high production value. Coachella is as a result  is not necessary.

She did things that were around her 143 release period (RnR, AFL, VMAs). 

 

From commercial and investment point of view its makes more sense to do such things around album release period unless the album is immortal like 21, TD, TF l, Anti etc.

I think maybe because the month Coachella will be, it's in April and Katy will start her tour (for now) in that month next year.

Y'll give Coachella too much credit, she can book Headline if she wants to.
