"She and I have a really great chemistry with songwriting. I take it so personally when people don't really know what happened and they speak on it as if they know. Sometimes it just bothers me. Working with somebody like Beyoncé is totally different than working with other people. She's a great songwriter, so we collab and gel. I typically write all the songs by myself. But with Bey, sometimes she'll take what I gave her, and we'll collab. She'll have me change this or that depending on her brand. That's what's so really specifically special about her — she is very particular about her brand.

So, if it's something that's off-brand, she'll be very sweet about saying it's not for her. It's not like she was ever like, "Hell no." She knows how to make you feel good and enjoy the process of working with her. She's the sweetest."

I honestly would love if Bey did something from scratch at some point.  Started a song from the beginning with one, max two other writers.  Her method has worked well, but would love to hear more.

Once again, people in this thread specifically do not understand what writing a songs entails. 
 

Writing a song is just not writing the lyrics, it also calls for vocal placement, accents as well as melodies and the flow of the song. It's very clear from the demo of 'Diva' Beyonce added MANY elements and lyrics to the song to elevate it and make it her own. Most people that are trying to discredit Beyonce have never heard the original 'Diva' demo. 

 

And if you know Sean Garrett, you know he has no reason to lie about Beyonce. His work outside of Bey speaks for itself.

Did you read what he said? He said she changes something here and there but he writes the songs all by himself. 

 

At this point we know she's not a songwriter and if it were as easy as you say she'd have a song with only her name credited or be the main writer but she isn't. Well, aside from DC and Jumpin' Jumpin'. But I love Beyoncé for other things and she's one of the greatest entertainers to ever grace this earth. She doesn't need to write songs when she excels in the other areas. And as he mentioned, her strong suit is knowing her brand and her being her own boss when it comes to album concepts is what also makes her talented.

A) She's the only writer and producer on "Gift From Virgo". (She used a 1974 instrumental from Shuggie Otis.)

 

 

 

B) She wrote "Church Girl" by herself to a beat made by No ID, The-Dream, and samples from the Clark Sisters + Several New Orleans bands.

 

 

C) She wrote "Jumpin Jumpin" by herself to a beat that was mistakenly sent to her by a producer on a CD filled with other beats he was planning to rap over and start a rap career with. When she played the completed song back to the producer and his friends, they were shocked, allowed B to keep the song, and got credit for composition and production of the beat.

Check his credits: he is currently on much of Summer Walker's work under his birth name Garrett Hamler.

I do love those and would love if she did more of it!  But I'd love to hear what she could do if she started something from scratch with someone, from the beginning.  I think it could be a cool way for her to challenge herself given the musicality her voice has in spades.

What he's actually implying when he says he typically writes all by himself is that most people either don't bother getting involved or tries to but it don't work. He's praising B for having a personality, understanding the songwriting process and being a good collaborator, it's not that hard to get.
