GraceRandolph Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 Fans were left shocked as Elton John's musical Tammy Faye announced its closing date on Broadway just five days after opening. The show - based on the life of televangelists Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker, had been struggling to sell tickets at the Palace Theatre despite a highly anticipated transfer from London. It will close on December 8 after playing just 24 previews and 29 performances - with shocked theatre-goers taking to social media to lambast the 'brutal' decision. Hector Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 Truly the biggest Broadway bomb of the year. Broadway's Joker: Folie A Deux of 2024. 11

'The usher yelled after her, "Ma'am, you're going toward the exit" and she responded loudly, "I KNOW". 28

EnigmaticAndroid Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 His musical before this- Devil Wears Prada- was legitimately terrible so not totally shocked. He still has Lion King and Aida (and Billy Smelliot if you're basic).
The7thStranger Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 Is this the new Carrie (I love Carrie) ?
Rachel Berry Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 Everything about this musical's Broadway run has been cursed. From Andrew Rannells pulling out of the show to the misprinted Playbill cover that was given out during opening night. 1

XVIIII Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 No offense but honestly who tf cares about the life of Tammy Faye? She was a flash in the cultural pan in the 80s. No one cares anymore. 1
