PrettyHurts Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago It should be Beyoncé. She began just before the 21st century and has remained iconic and successful throughout 1
Burn Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Taylor. But why are swifities being bitter in here saying if Beyoncé tops it it's because she must have paid for it? So if Taylor tops it it's because it must be true but if it's Beyoncé all logic everything she's achieved over the last 25 years (!) suddenly goes out the window and the only possible explanation is she must have paid for it? Some of yall really showing your ass. If Beyoncé was paying Billboard for achievements then why didn't she pay for #1 singles before Break My Soul? Why didn't she pay them to keep Cowboy Carter in the charts? Instead she paid to be on this list that even stan twitter barely knows about? Let's engage our brains please. Congratulations to Rihanna, Taylor and Beyoncé making top 3 irrespective of their positions, it's great to see these three lovely ladies on top. Edited 26 minutes ago by Burn
kimberly Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago should be Beyoncé because she fulfills their criteria better and she has been a force throughout the entire 21st century. but it will probably be Taylor because of recency bias / Swiftie social media pandering.
Kristie Kuwa Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Depends on what they prioritize. Taylor has the momentum with the Eras Tour, shes the money machine, the most successful musician commercially speaking, we live in "Taylor-mania" currently. Bey is way more avantgarde and daring. Shes become a symbol of continous seek of growth, shes breaking down barriers of racism and mysogyny, shes a trailblazer for what it means to become a dignified aging popstar, shes got the longer career, shes shaped modern RnB with her rap-singing style. It truly could go either way, tho as a fan and a fan of music, I'd give it to Beyonce. Her career is bigger than just numbers. She represents more than just her own commercial success, unlike Taylor. Shes become a political figure and a trailblazer, which puts her above Taylor imho.
Wicked Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago The list is kinda ridiculous so does it really matter. lol.
Burn Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I can see the argument for both tbh. Taylor has had a massive peak over the last decade or so. Beyoncé has more years on Taylor and she's the only artist from her generation of stars (Britney, Xtina, Justin T etc) who is still topping charts and competing with newer artists. That's nothing to turn your nose up at. So it's a question of whether Billboard priorities Taylor's peak vs. Beyoncé's longevity.
dumbsparce Posted 32 minutes ago Posted 32 minutes ago You guys seem to forget that Taylor's debut came out a year before B'day. She definitely checks the longevity requirement just as much as Beyonce does. It'll come down as to whether BB values facts more than arbitary claims. 1
Feanor Posted 21 minutes ago Posted 21 minutes ago We could already find out later today who Billboard picked as #1, when they upload another episode of their podcast. So far they've always teased who'd be next on the list at the end of the podcast.
