She is alternative pop so yeah, I get it. I don't necessarily think of her when I think pop star but that's not a bad thing. She's just different from the Madonna/britney/Beyoncé mold.

I feel like people struggle with the concept that if there is any finite list, some people are not going to make the cut and that takes away nothing from them and their work. It would be wrong to include Lana considering some of the other artists that did not make the cut and Lana herself has never really tried to play the game of a pop star.

i mean that is a fair question, they included rappers so the argument 'she is not a pop artist' is not valid. she is definitely popular enough, more so than some other acts that got a spot on the list. seems like an obvious omission
