People (especially on here) talk so negatively about her and her discography these days as if she didn't give us three immaculate albums in a row, all in the span of just 5 years 2 3

BAM! three classics in a row, each chock full of classics that have only aged like WINE! and there was so much growth between all three of them, you could see her pen game refining and her vocals only getting more and more confident anyone who has a Sawzall in their discography only three albums in should never be underestimated. she's still got all that talent, and even though Serpentina was notably weaker than the three that came before it, it still had its share of great songs on it. but now it feels like she's tapping into that sort of gold that made those three first albums classics once again 1
masochizm Posted Thursday at 05:20 PM Posted Thursday at 05:20 PM (edited) not the serpentina apologists in here… anyone with three immaculate albums by default shouldn't have released such garbage actually and I say that as a banks day one she took what was seemingly quirky on some of the tracks on III, and blew that specific quality up on serpentina and created a giant cringe fest. anyway, glad things seem like they're back on track but i'm still cautious. less rap talk and cringe lyrics, and more actual singing please jillian. renforshort Posted Thursday at 05:22 PM Posted Thursday at 05:22 PM Serpentina was a COVID project we were ALL miserable and depressed so I gave her a pass 2

I hate Serpentina and it's her worst album in my opinion. I can't think of a single track I like on the album. I hope this album is more like the goddess or altar than Serpentina. 1
Scandalous Posted Thursday at 05:42 PM Posted Thursday at 05:42 PM oh the COVER we're so back! the way i loved her first 3 albums but it literally took me 2-3 weeks after release to finally listen to serpentina in full bc i just did NOT care and i think i've listened to it a total of 2 more times since
JoeAg Posted Thursday at 05:44 PM Posted Thursday at 05:44 PM y'all are doing just a bitttt much on Succpentina… yes it's her worst by far but it gave us the iconic banger Meteorite and the soulful ballad Birds by the Sea! 1
renforshort Posted Thursday at 05:53 PM Posted Thursday at 05:53 PM She was just kicked off the lineup of an Indonesian festival for being a "zionist" 1 1

Comparing the lyrics on Goddess to Serpentina and even III, you see a stark difference between her diaristic, relatable lyricism back then and her far more bizarre and elusive (sometimes borderline cringe) lyricism now. But her confidence, vocals, editing, performance, and melodies overall have all improved with each album. She's so talented and there's not a single song of hers I don't come back to (aside from a few on Serpentina) but something has felt like it's missing in her music recently. I hope she proves me so wrong with this album though! Edited Thursday at 08:10 PM by CottageHore 2 1
CottageHore Posted Thursday at 08:11 PM Posted Thursday at 08:11 PM OMG THAT COVER!!! This is the first album cover of hers where she's truly serving! Maybe I spoke too soon
