swissman Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) DESERVED! One of the best IASF singles, overshadowed by dual-single-sister Halo but now having its own moment! Also I want to reiterate how important a move this was in 2008 for a popstar at the peak of her pop-adult-contemporary bag to put out a hip-hop single like THIS. It's nearly a full rap track, and certainly the most rap-inspired pop single that any popstar put out in the 2000s, even through a huge wave of Hip-Hop blended with pop dominance through collabs. No other pop girls were doing it like this at that time, making their own solo hip-hop tracks without features and fully sold/performed by their own rap-singing skills. It certainly paved a way forward for the rap-sung era of the 2010s where many stars would take on that styling including Ariana, Miley, Little Mix, etc. etc. Edited 1 hour ago by swissman 3

Beyonce was able to keep her grip on both the adult contemporary market as well as the urban markets at the same time.
