this is better than 90% of the national super bowl performances, what are some of y'all smoking :deadbanana4:

also i couldn't stop thinking how beyoncé and shakira look alike lmao

Bey, Shakira, and Mariah are from the same womb and share many things in common like their longevity, honey blonde Cecred washed hair, and are very tiny tiny gorls.

Nothing about the performance was "meh". Objectively. If this was "meh" to you, I'm finding it hard to believe you like any Lady Gaga performance at all.

You don't like the music and that's ok. There's nothing much else to it.

A swiftie!

Because she was lifted from the ground? Do you think Beyoncé is influenced by Rihanna? Why?

I mean even if Bey copied her it's not Rihanna invented being lifted in the air in a performance lol :rip:.

She just could've been inspired by her, as Rih has been inspired by Bey many times before…

Boring, rehashed concepts. Continue living in an echo chamber.

It's…intentionally drawing upon the cultural legacy of Black cowboys and the Black roots of country music.

It's also clearly not a rehash for you, given the dearth of successful Black women in country, and Bey's status as the first Black woman to get a #1 country album or #1 country song.

She's been doing this faux performance art rehash since lemonade. It was executed amazingly then, now it's just bleh. The turning point for me was that tennis court video she did for the Oscar. Everything since that has been a drag plus her cosplaying some genre in a hamfisted way.

1. Performance art doesn't mean what you think it means

2. Tennis court video was for the Oscars and for Be Alive (the film about the Williams Sisters' dad)

It sounds like you're upset about Bey centering Blackness/culture in her work and how people are meant to consume her work given the Be Alive performance literally isn't her switching genres, and just about her playing tribute to a Black family who broke down barriers in an overwhelmingly white sport.

The three act project is also obviously about an embrace of genres that Black folks have been erased or sidelined from, so if it's her execution bothers you….ok, but you sound like you're mad at the purpose itself and that she's using that purpose as a selling point in her work.

Well it might not have been our favorite performance by her but it definitely was not bad. Still better than your favs so stay mad.
more live singing would be nice but at this point B has earned the right.

The performance was good. Not her best but really wasn't expecting it to be VMAs 2016 or Beychella level of perfectly executed showmanship, she's just set very high standards for herself in that way. The only issue for me is the material she's performing just sucks, wish she'd done this with the Renaissance era instead I didn't want to hear any of those yeeha songs

So many frames are copied from Rihanna SB performance

Guess Bey wants to be viral too but people rightfully pointing out not just similarities but how inauthentic it is.

And why is it always the stans of talentless girlies that fume the most

1. How do similar logistical choices in certain moments make a performance inauthentic?

2. Have you located those better performances from your fav yet?

Do you think Taylor Swift's work is authentic?

Cowboy Carter is not only extremely authentic from Beyoncé but also very, very personal.

It was a good performance. The transitions were perfect. I think My house stole the show

My only complaint is no Bodyguard. I kinda wish she did Bodyguard with its godly outro into Texas Hold Em instead of Jolene :gayoncecat3:

Mixed bag for me.

i was sort of the turned off by the mostly pre-recorded vocals.

She is an incredible performer obviously with so much presence.

Excellent execution but not so interesting concept/songs.

"Bodyguard" / "II Most Wanted" is for the Grammys I think. :coffee2:

She is thee performer of our generation, without a doubt - everything she presents is meticulously on point & delivered effortlessly, but you can tell so much work, thought & intent has gone into bringing it to life.

It was great to see CC tracks finally get a "live" performance - the Blue cameos are adorable.

Simply incredible. Finally Cowboy Carter is getting some deserved spotlight. It's one of my favorite albums of all time. I can't wait to see her on tour and see her perform ALL the songs!
