Planet Mars Posted November 18 Posted November 18 (edited) I mean I get it but. 1. Britney and Christina didn't dissappear off the face of the earth in 2003 2. She grew up in the era of YT so I don't see how she wouldn't have at least checked them out. Also her aesthetic is literally so Britney coded like girl 3. Selena? Really? I get Ariana and Taylor but Selena? Like I have never understood the hype with this chick, she can't even carry a note All in all she's only 21, I just don't find the age excuse all that relevant. Bruno Mars was born in 1985 but still regularly draws influences from artists like Michael Jackson, Earth Wind & Fire and Kool & The Gang, all who peaked before he was alive. Beyoncé's two biggest female influences are Diana Ross and Tina Turner, both of whom also peaked before she was born, yet somehow growing up in the 80s and 90s they were still able to learn and be influenced. Whatever. Edited November 18 by Planet Mars 7 8
Xtripped Posted November 18 Posted November 18 Xtina and Britney were babies when Madonna and Janet smashed and still both excelled showing the influence from them. Hell, even Xtina at 8 was singing Sunday Kind Of Love a song released 20 years prior. Same with Gaga, Bowie born like 40 years before her and she still show him some respect. There's something named pop culture for a reason, it's up to you if you prefer watching HSM or VH1. 8
Odette Violet Posted November 18 Posted November 18 is she talking about their feud / media drama cause that's would be pretty understandable but if it's aesthetics or musical inspiration like girl you are cosplaying Britney in a tighter budget
Technicolor Posted November 18 Posted November 18 It wasn't even shade. People getting mad in here for no reason 3
Popboi. Posted November 18 Posted November 18 (edited) This wasn't shade at all she was a teenager in the mid 2010s so of course that's what she "grew up" watching on TV. She wasn't going to lie about growing up watching Christina when her last hit was before Tate was even 10. She's clearly inspired by Britney and X now but that wasn't the question. J-esper Posted November 18 Posted November 18 I think it also depends on how you are raised and what you get fed while growing up. There is nothing wrong with whay she said
alfonso12 Posted November 18 Posted November 18 I saw Britney stans being mad at her basically because she wasn't born at her peak pathetic. The fact that she was gagged by Selena's album cover is sad though, poor Gen Z, the bar was low. 2 2

Because, you know, the world was here before you. Hopefully, this doesn't translate in several aspects of your life, like a lack of interest in history, family dynamics, and politics. Lol okay calm down. Just because that user isn't interested in pop things before they were born, isn't going to affect the rest of their life. So damn dramatic for what, over music? 1
WhateverYouWant Posted November 18 Posted November 18 She is literally made to be another Britney clone. So I'm curious if Britney was ever her influence or not or if that was just the label. Either way I know like 2 songs from her. She made/is making no noise. 2 1
Abracadabra Posted November 18 Posted November 18 4 hours ago, Capris Groove said: I'm not saying she doesn't know anything about it but it was obviously implied when she says she was age zero when it happened and then went on to list the stuff she does remember. My point was that it's interesting that people now don't have the TV to replay stuff from older eras. Which is how most of us here grew up being exposed to a lot of music from various decades. Girl now people have the internet to see stuff from older era's, it's easier than ever before
modeblock Posted November 18 Posted November 18 I'm literally a 40 yo Britney stan, and I don't see a single problem with that she said. She's not showing disrespect, but she is probably just being a bit careless with her word choice, which is perfectly normal at her age. She's clearly influenced by 2000s stars from her presentation to her music production, and I think it's fantastic to see the things from my youth be appreciated and reimagined by talented people, so I am here for her.

It does not, I'm an extremely curious person, but music is just a fun thing and I have plenty of it to listen to already. Plus I didn't say I never tried, when I did it just didn't do anything or me and I never forced it. 1
XtinaStripped Posted November 18 Posted November 18 Damn. I guess that's why music went to ****. The new girls don't even know their history. Yes, I know... I'll get my recliner out. Don't mind me.
WhateverYouWant Posted November 18 Posted November 18 I liked her. We are both Canadian. To snub legend x and thee Britney Spears to praise Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift made a throw up
SoundsandSongs Posted November 18 Posted November 18 (edited) Atrl showing it's bias to Gen Z again... Each Gen has their iconic stars. I was also born in 2000s and I can say 100% Taylor, Ariana, Billie, Olivia are seen as way more iconic than Xtina/Brit to my Gen. This doesn't mean we hate them are think Billie is better than Brit, it's just we didn't grow up in Xtina/Brit peak and don't have the same connection with them. I have never heard anyone my age talk about Britney vs Xtina or Katy vs Gaga in real life. Edited November 18 by SoundsandSongs 5

wantedyoutogrow Posted November 18 Posted November 18 we're the same age and I completely get her, like I'm sorry to everyone who's in their 30's in here but I (and I assume her and most people our age) don't care about pop stars that were relevant when we were in diapers no shade 2
