Sort of a separate topic (maybe) but bottom =/= submissive and top =/= dominant automatically. You sort of put it perfectly when you say "assumed," it is assumed because that is the nature of how a patriarchal society has made women be the submissive partner in all aspects of life. Or that being the "recipient" sexually makes you inherently submissive. Which then ties into internal hatred within queer circles around bottoms. Which again is its own rabbit hole () to go down.
