Regardless of style or musical direction, her songwriting was so much stronger when she was writing her songs alone (or mostly alone). She made a joke sometime towards the end of the Teenage Dream era about how, when that tour was over, she wanted to lock herself in a cabin with a guitar and just write songs. She should try that tbh.
