SoldierofLove Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Do you go to theatre shows or concerts by lesser known local artists, or do you save your coins for popular artists when they tour? I feel fortunate to live somewhere with a thriving art scene. There's something new to see almost everyday. I enjoy going to the theatre to see musicals and plays. I've discovered a lot of local musicians who perform at small venues. 1
BrokenMachine Posted November 17 Posted November 17 I AM the local art scene But yes, I support my fellow colleagues 1

dumbsparce Posted November 17 Posted November 17 I try my best eventhough they lean more on the fartsy than on the artsy side of the spectrum
skwonderfactory Posted November 17 Posted November 17 I try to—I am even friends with a band—but for the most art, it's more the visual arts. I took a lot of classes college and even majored in digital media arts with a focus in graphic design, so I try and visit the campus 2-3 semester to see what people are working on, plus attend local shows. I also follow a few of my former classmates and I admire what they are making. I need to get better at the networking part though.
Dancehall Queen Posted November 17 Posted November 17 No, not really. Everything by me is corny. I do support the arts though.
Kummercell Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Visual arts and theather, yeah. I love going to my local art gallery and seeing plays by local theather groups. haaaate the musical scene though

SLIME Posted November 21 Posted November 21 My ex was plugged into that scene. I remember some cool shows and cool people although others were harder to deal with. There was one very "experimental" show that our friend was loving. Not really since that relationship ran its course. I mean I went to a comedy night, but mostly I go to work and come home.
Hollywood. Posted November 21 Posted November 21 I've worked in the local film industry on a few low low budget productions and a few Hallmark movies that have come across town. Well majority of the shows that come to film here aren't "local" it certainly helps bring more shows here and supports the local film scene. The first season of the Last Of Us was filmed here which gave the industry a huge boost..... until the dueling strikes last year. I also go to screenings of locally made films/student films to support the local community as well.
