SoldierofLove Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 (edited) "Me, as a fan, when I love something, it's like, no, I don't care what the artist was going through. I genuinely don't care if the artist was going through heartbreak or lost their dog or whatever. I just know that when I love a song, it's mine." Hm first artist that comes to mind is Lorde. Did she come for her? What about you, ATRL? Do you feel more connected to a song when you understand what the artist was going through when they created the song? Popular Post TrashMagiq Posted November 17, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 17, 2024 This feels like Taylor shade… She's basically saying "I don't care about Taylor Swift" 2 19 1 1
Mezik Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 I feel this has nothing to do with anyone, at all, and she's simply saying "sure they were in a bad spot when they wrote X song, but I don't like it". This is totally normal. 2

Pavement Princess Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 This is clearly Cardi shade. Annie wants CB2 and doesn't give a **** how many hoes Offset has slept with to delay her Sophomore release. 1

It seems like a reach to assume she's shading her out of nowhere, especially with such a specific reference to a dog. Also many artists write about heartbreak in their songs.

Dancehall Queen Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Quote Me, as a fan She's not shading other artists. She's @ing the fans. But every musician says something like this ~ the song becomes less and less theirs/what they wrote it about.
LoudCitySong Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 I can't believe it's almost 2025 and we're still taking her words hugely out of context to make her seem as cynical as possible
pavi Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 (edited) Not people looking to make this shade while it's actually just one of the oldest literary discussions ever. Doe the author/maker matter? Or does art stand on its own? How people think about this has been HUGELY different troughout history. It's clear the story of a creator matters more to the average person now than ever, but there have been many times where people believed art should be seen as something autonomous. Go read some literary history, people!! Edited November 17, 2024 by pavi 1 4
conquxror Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 She's good friends with Lorde. She heard Solar Power before it came out and was talking about how much she liked it on Reddit. I don't think this comment was directed towards a specific person. 1
